关于考官Nick

Nick在British Council 工作了10年，是前雅思高级考官，改过无数的雅思考卷，非常清楚考官判分要求。

他有超过二十年的教学经验，去过不同的亚洲国家教英文。他专门教授亚洲人的口语，特别清楚我们学英语的困难和弱点。他此前曾于全球著名的国际学校、顶级大学以及世界五百强的机构教授学生、CEO人数超过十万。他的很多雅思学生也在跟他学习了很短的时间内进步超过一分，有些更是拿了British Council的雅思奖学金出国。

I am talking about the great workshop we did at Ho Yu college in Hong Kong on the 8th of May. I was asked to make a short presentation about the most efficient way to prepare for getting a good score in IELTS. This is the same advice I have given on these pages before but I believe in the message here so much I think it is worth repeating.

The most efficient way to prepare for the IELTS test

There are two aspects to preparation for IELTS, both equally important.

First : Study IELTS exam techniques.
For example, how to answer multiple choice and information gap questions, how to write an academic essay, a report.

Second: Raise your general level of English language skills, especially in vocabulary and grammar.
Asian students are disadvantaged in grammar as all European countries have verb tenses, plurals and articles ( the, a an ) while no Asian languages have these things.
This difficulty can only be overcome by regular study of grammar exercises to lessen the number of mistakes you make.

In vocabulary, it is advisable to gain a wide general knowledge of topics that are always used in IELTS
Topics such as science, technology, education, the media etc. You need this knowledge to give you confidence in answering questions on these topics.
You need the vocabulary necessary to express this knowledge in your answers.
