------题目------
People today are too individualistic. Instead of pursuing self-centered, separate goals, people need to understand that satisfaction comes from working for the greater good of the family, the community, or society as a whole.
------正文------
In modern society, people are facing more and more competitive pressure, which leads to an atmosphere of apathy. Most people only consider their own benefits. Gradually people today become more and more individualistic, and many people think that the self benefits are more important than the sense of satisfaction. Though it is true that we may get more satisfaction from serving for others, few will do this unless the benefits of themselves be assured. However, without a doubt, pursuing self-benefits also results in the greater food of the family, the community, or the society. That is, well-being of individual can lead to well-being of the whole society. Thus, in my point of view, it does not matter what we pursue if we can obey the law.

To begin with, pursuing self-centered, separate goals is one of the chief motivations for most people to devote themselves to work and study. One kind of people who is individualistic is striving for their own well-being. They maybe engage in the career they do not favor, but the do not care. The only thing they concern is how to ear enough money or to improve their social status. Another kind of people who is individualistic is motivated by their intense interest in something. The only thing they pay attention to is their interest. They usually concentrate all of their vigor with what they feel interest and worth doing. Most of scientists are typical of ones of this kind of people. For example, Einstein was poor in his study until he met physics, which motivated his interest and drove him to pursue his ideal. Then he became one of the most great scientists last century. In fact, most scientists choose their goal because of their personal interest. The two kinds of people mentioned above actually make more or less contributions to the society unconsciously. Therefore, pursuing self-centered, separate goals is inculpable.

In addition, it is our personal achievements that contribute to the greater of the family, the community, or the whole society. For example, a man's goal was to ear money as much as possible when he was a student in a university. Several years latter, the man achieved his goal through incessant effort. Today the beneficiaries are not only himself, but also his whole family. Naturally we can infer that his children are very likely to experience with a good education, and then make a great contribution. Then nobody can deny his working for the greater good, though his initial motivation was his won well-being. On the other hand, scientists, who pursue their own ideals, may make a greater contribution to the society. The rapid pace of development of our society should attribute to the scientists' great achievements in great degree. The application of nuclear electricity station almost gives us infinite energy. The inventions of internet and computer make us more efficient. So many great achievements actually come from the interest of individual. Therefore, pursuing one's won goals is completely reasonable.

Admittedly, working for greater good of others brings us more satisfaction. Maybe most people have ever had this sense that we felt we ere helpful to those who were so impoverished that they could not sustain their lives only because we patronged them, even though only one dollar. A lot of surveys show that everyone has a potential desire to be identified by society or at least be considered as a useful person. Because of this, we can see that many tycoons, such as Bill Gates, devote to beneficence. For these people, satisfaction brought by money is much less than that brought by the social identity. Thus, we should understand that it is working for the greater good, rather than individual success, gives us more satisfaction.

In conclusion, it is true that people today are too individualistic. However, self-centered people make much more contributions to our society than harms brought by them. So only if we do not challenge the law, pursuing self-centered separate goals is reasonable and we can also get satisfaction from is.
