我的第一篇argument是argument9(7月30日,写了两三个小时,484words),就是某大学学生给老师打分结果分数通货膨胀造成学生就业困难的那篇。
The argumenter suggests that Omega University terminate student evaluation of professors to enable its graduates to secure better jobs, on the basis that the evaluation procedure leads to an inflation of grades, thus impairs the prestige of Omega University graduates on the job market. The argumenter also cites the fact that nearby Alpha University graduates have better employment than their neighboring competitors as a proof. The notion seems at first glance reasonable. However, several critical fallacies could be detected after due consideration.
之后,我又写了一篇关于历史的issue103(The study of history has value only to the extent that it is relevant to our daily lives),刚开始时是以精益求精的态度写的,可惜写到一半就因为不知道第二个论点该是什么写不下去了。
Argument:
Issue:
碰上两道题,一为艺术题(超高频),二为社会-媒体类题(低频,本年度仅出现过一次)(29"Public figures such as actors, politicians, and athletes should expect people to be interested in their private lives. When they seek a public role, they should expect that they will lose at least some of their privacy.")。
A: The basis of democracy is that everybody is created equal. The exposure and critics of the lives of the famous is the first step to refuse the idea that they are somebody higher than us. Marx is treated as a god in some communism countries.
B:1. Fame brings power. 2. Power leads to corruption and absolute power corrupts absolutely. (Lord Acton) 3. But if the famous few know that even their sexual affairs can become the headlines of the next day’s newspapers, they would be more careful while using their power.——促进社会公正
C: The exposure of the private lives of the public figures improves the common welfare.
