题目：
Students should memorize facts only after they have studied the ideas, trends, and concepts that help explain those facts. Students who have learned only facts have learned very little.

提纲如下：
total agree

1.the foundation of the science facts are base on many relative theory of those ideas, trends, and concepts that help explain those facts. （没有事实是孤立的，事实是由理论体系建立，由各种概念支持）
2. The final purpose of study is mastering a fact, which requires not only memorizing but also totally conprehension(学习需要掌握，而并不是单纯的记忆)
3. Those who only memrize the facts never gain the ability of using the theory fluently and make deep research.

正文：
In this statement, the author mentioned that only when one study the ideas, trends, and concepts of the explanation of facts that he can learn the facts well. I agree with his opinion totally that one should not only memorize the fact to study.

What is "study”? What is "total understand"? How can one really master a theory of particular subject of science? Nowadays, many students think that study is no longer to memorize the concepts, formations and facts of a theory which is so-called "mastering" by them. Admittedly, such strategy will probably give them great score of examination and final test. But in the long run, such wrong action will definitely lead to misunderstand of science and superficiality in study. In order to know that, one concept of "fact" should be mentioned as below.

A scientific fact is not only a statement of a certain phenomena or action of the nature In other words, it is not independent from other objects. Usually, such fact that found by scientists has a series of relative ideas, trends, and concepts that not only support but also help explain the fact. They can not be divided because they make a whole system of a particular branch of theory which will lead to that fact. No mention of concrete and small branch of a theory, even the great theory of relativity found by Albert Einstein needs the support of Riemann Geometry. Without the surrounding ideas and concepts, the fact itself has no significance even if it is quite right.

Just because the condition that a fact its supports are a whole system, studying the fact require not only memorizing but also the understanding of its relative support and background including the development of the fact, the clue of foundation and mistakes made in history of such field. All that will make sense in your study that you never have to specially memorize the fact. "Understanding" is the best method of memorizing. When you familiar with the background and relative support of the theory, the fact has become part of your knowledge which means you can use the theory as you wish. Such good condition of study can never be found if you only do the mechanical memorizing. In a word, the final purpose of study is "mastering" of a fact, which requires not only memorizing but also totally comprehension!

But unfortunately in our daily life, fewer and fewer students and scholars realize the truth stated upward. Oppositely, in order to deal with tests and examinations, more of them choose to memorize the fact even by word which makes them unable to have a high level of ability in research. No matter you are one who is willing to do theory research as a science or you are one who want to use the facts in industry, "total understanding" is always required. Without such comprehension, a scientist will not be able to touch the advance theory in his field, an engineer can not apply the fact to our daily life use, an artist can not compose a melody rhythm of its own indeed, and the whole society will not develop any more.

Just as the statement I have mentioned, no mastering, no development. Students should not only memorize the fact but also should study the ideas, trends, and concepts that support it which will lead to a real understand of the theory.
