There are 230 countries and territories in the world. Every country, every culture, every society is different from the others in their ideology and value system. Just as author asserts which I am totally agree that people's appearance and behavior can serve to identify a unique society, as discussed below.

In the respect of appearance, the way of people look, dress do provide us certain clue about the society they are representing. If all the people in favor of diverse and unique cloth, then the country may be the one advocatting freedom and individuality. If the people always choose the cloth with simple design and unexpensive price, then the country is impressed us with simplicity characteristic. There are several typical examples will serve to solid my statement. The first example is that I have ever been to Japan in summer, at where I was totally surprised to observe that the Japanese male went to work everyday wearing business suit. It was 37 centigrade outside and they all were dripping with sweat. However, none of them complained about this and regaded it as ordinary regulation. For this reason, the Japan and Japanese strongly impressed me with their extrodinary tolerance and rigorous attitude toward the regulation. The second example is that the Americans always feel strange about Chinese's swim suit, since they prefer to choose the bikini on the beach but nor does the Chinese. This phenomenum may be concluded that there is still a little conversation in the Chinese society. Thus, the appearance of people can contribute to the information to form the society's ideology, value system and ritual.

In the respect of behavior, the way people act is another significant signal to recognize and understand a society. Let's star from a unique person. In common sense, we will never regard a person always quarrelling with others as a polite one. We also will never assume a haughty person to be modest. The rule can be expanded to society. If the society whose member who always behave in the manner of respectful and genteel toward each other is one which values the human dignity, which the people act to be indifferent and unconcerned toward one another, the society turns to be the one with apathetic social relationship. For example, we often deem the Japanese to be polite for they always bow during the conversation, moreover, there are more than 40 complex honorifics in their language. France is entitled of "Romantic Country" and the another name of Paris is "City of Romance", which is contributed by the way French like to behave. To conclude, the act and behavior of people in a particular society serve to the mirror reflecting the social interests and value.

Admittedly, some people may claim the dressing style usually defined by the climate. We could not expect the Eskimo to be dressed as the people in tropic area. Although the climate and geography condition determine what the people would dress like, we still could perceive the different social identity through the different appearance in the same climate zone. We no need to look further than the women dressing style in China and Muslin in west Asia. They are both located semi-tropical area

,however, the Chinese women can choose whatever they think to be beautiful and proper which shows the freedom of society. On the contrary, the Muslin women have to wear tightly and veil their face, from which we feel the rigid religious regulation. Therefore, people's dressing style can be a denotation of society despite the climate.

In sum, to observe the identify of society, observing the way of people look, dreass and behave could contribute a lot to our definition, which is the same with the speaker's statement.
