38.In the age of television, reading books is not as important as it once was. People can learn as much by watching television as they can by reading books.
1.电视的出现确实对人的学习方式有很大影响
2.电视有其缺点，而书仍然有其明显优势：
1）播放不可控制，使用limited，较贵，损伤眼睛，不适于移动。
2)书籍便宜，不损上眼睛，便于携带；
cheaper, do less harm to eyes(no shiny), and portable(go anywhere).
3）书籍可以从图书馆借阅；
3.电视重要,书更重要,电视不能代替书去学习

I partially agree with the author's claims that people can learn more knowledge by watching television than by reading books and reading books is not as important as it once was. Although the television is important to our modern lives, reading books is also crucial to get knowledge and information.

In the first place, the appearance of television has significant effect on
people's lives and studying. TV with its video and audio gives deeper impressions
on people's minds and because of its timely and lively advantages people can know
much information from every place of the world. For example, from the TV, we can
see lively sports games such as NBA, Olympic Games, F1 etc, we can see the most
popular movies such as Harry Port, The Ring of Lord, Spider man and so on, we also can see many educational documentaries such as Follow me. Most of these information we can not get from books and we can realize the world more thorough and live through the TV. So, in these points, TV has very important influence and can not be replaced.

In the second place, the book has the same significant effects as the TV on
people's lives since TV has some disadvantages while books do not. For instance,
the contents of playing of TV is not be controlled by people but by TV station and whatever the programs you like or not, you have no choice but to watch it. Moreover, TV has some bad effects on people's eyes and can cause myopia or other illnesses after watching long time. In addition, because TV is immovable, we only watch it at home and can not  take with it if we have journey. But book is different with TV in that it is cheaper and portable that you can take it going anywhere and has less harm to eyes. By the way, if you do not want to buy books and just find some information from it, you also can borrow  it from library. In a word, reading books is a traditionary and effectual way of acquiring knowledge.

Admittedly, along with the fast development of technology and science, more and
more products, such as LCD, HDTV,PDA even computers, are created and solve the problems in a certain aspect. It is promising that TV will play a more important
role in people's learning. However, at the same time, we should not forget the
merits of books which provide much extremely important information like history,
culture and arts etc. TV is just a complement of books and an instrument of
amusement and it can not replace of the books for learning knowledge.

In sum, from what has been discussed above, we may draw the conclusion that people can not learn enough effective knowledge by reading books as well as watching TV though TV is also important to ours lives.
