Is money spent on research always a good investment? The speaker claims so regardless of the controversial results. Otherwise, as far as I am concerned, although it is always a wise decision to invest on various kinds of researches, more careful consideration is up to be taken as far as the results of some researches are ambiguous.

To begin with, admittedly researches need the investment of money both from government and society. Money is the very precondition for any research, paving a smooth way for researchers. Without money, scientists are not able to obtain the required equipment or laboratories for further study, ending up halfway to work miracles. Once the artists have to worry about eating, drinking,living ------such trivial things, hardly outstanding works will be brought to the world. And unless archeologists have enough funding for research, no opportunities are available for them to exhume the hidden historical remains, let alone discovering the truth of the past. On the contrary, with the money funded, researchers are expected to focus on their studies wholeheartedly, making greater progress. As it always turns out, money helps to remove the giant obstacles on the successful destination of research,.

Moreover, considering every member of society will benefit from kinds of researches, it is of great importance and necessity to locate money on researches. In retrospect, it is the scientific researches that have changed our world to such a great extent that we can enjoy so much convenience and comfit in modern times. Taking the transportation as an example, it has offered us the fastest and safest means of commuting, saving time wasted on the long and tedious trip for more creative work and severe competition. Distance disappears and a global village gradually came into being. Another case in point is the communication. Turn on the TV, we are informed of news and events from all over the world while we are staying at home; Dial some numbers, we are connected with friends or relatives even tens of thousands of kilometres away. Click on the keyboard of computer, we are surfing in the cyber space , experiencing the excited, wonderful and colourful life. Thus money spent on researches is really worth investing.

Although it is true that casting money on researches has tremendous positive effects, negative respects still coexist, especially when the results of researches are of controversy. For instance, the researches on genetic engineering have cured many illness and extend people's longevity , at the same time the cloning technology has pushed us human beings into an embarrassing position, facing up with the conflicts and struggles between ethnic , or moral , standards and the scientific height. Another case is the money shed on studying atom bomb, which once illegally used for war purpose, a big disaster is doomed on its way.

To sum up, granted the fact that money casted on researches is always a wise investment, we should take more details into serious consideration as well as critical judgment ,particularly when the researches may lead to controversial, if any ,even unjust or harmful results. Only in this way can we take the fullest advantages of the positive effects of the money invested on researches.
