I agree with speaker insofar as that certain nonmainstream areas of inquiry, to some extent, have positive effect on mental and mentality of human being, if we use them properly . However over emphasis on them or even fanaticism always spell some catastrophic results .Besides, the speak's claim that mainstream science can't  satisfy human needs given by nonmainstream science remains questionable.

Firstly, nonmainstream areas of inquiry, consisting of certain fields proved unscientific by now mainstream sciences and some fields can't be proved , have huge influence upon human's spirit ,whether rightly or wrongly. According to a scientific theory, an individual's active subjective idea is in favor of objective factors to gain a success. For instance, a young man , work hard all the while, has no enough confidence to confront tests. Image that he meet a celebrity specialize in fortune-telling,who tell him that he will success no doubt. Therefore, he gain a enough encourage and adjust  rightly his own emotion, his grade will excellent. Apparently, paying adequate attention on such nonmainstream areas facilitate human being achieve his goal.

Yet, undue fascination of nonmainstream areas of inquiry would work a harm to an individual progress or even a country's stability and advance.  With no regard of reality, blindly believing certain absurdity decision from those people who are good at some nonmainstream areas such as augury, fortune-telling and so forth, lead to a person evaluate himself or another  mistakably and do something beyond his true ability . If we cast a look back at history of human being over hundreds  year, we will find myriads of examples. Most  ancient alchemist  ,believe that they would change other materials into gold, devote all their lives to this impossible project. Seeking to live forever , emperor spended  much more time and energy on his ridiculous behavior rather than take at least in account more actual problems such as poverty , war and plague. Thus ,  his realm was overthrown easily.

With the development of science and technology ,people have  known an individual's  inward mental state gradually. There is new substitute for these nonmainstream areas , psychology ,based on modern science, also meeting people's need in  spirit . Essential be rational and scientific, people can know and receive it ,without any worries like those unscientific nonmainstream fields. Consider,in many developed countries, more and more people have been used to make a psychoanalytic inspect from experts each month to relax. They said they prefer to receiving a more scientific and valid suggestion rather than believing some  fabricated predict .

In sum, we  will benefit from proper using no mainstream area ,since they provide encourages to certain people in dismay .If  we consider their suggestions trustfully,  however, we will make mistakes inevitably. Compared with such old unscientific areas, new subjects like psychology are better choices than nonmainstream areas.
