The study of an academic discipline enables us to perceive the world in different aspects and different mind. Always through the study of an academic discipline one gain the capacity to see a broader spectrum of opinion and perspective. Education in the natural science alters the way we perceive the world. For example the study of advanced mathematics changes the way one observe the world. Before the education in mathematics, one may feel dizzy about those difficult formulas or equations in calculus, algebra, or probabilities. While a mathematic student may discover those equations and formulas are everywhere not only in the sphere of academic study but also in daily life. A great number of complicated problems of different disciplines can be abstracted into mathematic formulas or matrixes then be solved easily. That is how the economists work. The realms of economic analysis are always the frontiers where applied mathematics cracks the headachy economic problems. Also Physics changes our understanding of many natural phenomena. It helps us refrain from those absurd notions such as occurrences of lightning and rains are depression of god. Earth is the center of the universe, and the shape of the earth is flat. Biology endues us a clearer comprehension of our physical mechanism. Some patient suffers from diabetes doubts that why doctors suggest him or her not to eat food that are high in sugar as well as fat. While after the careful study of Tricarboxylic acid cycle and lipid metabolism, a biology student would easily pointed out that though fatty foods may not contain glucose yet after a series of digestion lipid would cause a high level of acetone body in the blood, and that can be very toxicant to the patient. Moreover, we know illness is due to infections rather than curses from god. We no longer regard ourselves are ingenious creations of god; or people are come from an outlandish planet. Through the earnest pursuit of liberal arts knowledge, one reveals to ourselves the flaws and foibles of other humans whose lives we study and read about. For example, after the reading of King Lear and Hamlet any serious student of Shakespeare would come away with a heightened awareness of the tragically flawed ironic hero, and of the arbitrariness by which we distinguish heroes from villains. Knowledge of the arts alters the way one perceives the aesthetic world. As a neophytes one respond instinctively and emotionally to the forms, colors and sounds of art. After the studies of the discipline, one can appreciate it through not only pigments and shapes but also historical influences and aesthetic principles. In conclusion, throughout education and study of an academic discipline one perceive the same world with the different eye. Yet one must realize one aspect of knowledge can limit the one’s horizon. The more one study the more different kinds of mind and view one will gain.
