Issue 51
Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual nedds and interests of each student.

1.       适应每个学生不同的发展水平
2.       都有公平的机会发展自己的天赋
3.       但是出于社会的培养学生的需要,有些课程是必须的
4.       考虑到有限的资源,定制教育不可能实现

Will education be effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student, as the author claims? I concede insofar as specifically designed education is best for each different student's development and for fair. Otherwise, in my view it is also necessary to take social expectation and limited resource into consideration.

The first reason I fundamentally agree with the speaker is that special-designed education well satisfies each student's different needs. Common sense tells us that childhood is the period in which teenagers develop rapidly in intellection, physical, and emotion. However, individual difference varies developing process. Thus, even in the same class, some students pick up the abilities, while others not. Therefore, for example, before a child's intellect quality reach high enough, it is useless to teach the complex mathematics. But a special designed education will be helpful to solve these problems. Otherwise, the complex problems will hurt children's motivation and ambition.

The second reason why I essentially agree with the speaker is that every person deserves an opportunity to be a useful one. It is unfair to deprive any child's chance, merely because the one does not have interests in some academic regions. For instance, a child has a poor school performance and never clearly understands the mathematic problems on the textbooks. However, one shows strong interests in history and literature and even published his/her novel at age of thirteen. Is it education's responsibility to realize the one's dream of a writer and get out of hard mathematic problems? In short, education will be effective when meet students' individual needs.

Although special designed education benefits the individuals most, it is really hard to realize on the ground of society and educational resource. Anthropologists tell us that every nation values some merits and characteristics highly, such as honesty, industriousness, bravery, and patriotism. In order to thrive society in both minds and materials, the education cultures these merits in the every teenager all the same. For instance, whatever a child are spoiled, it is necessary to train him/her not littering around. Therefore, there are some compulsive lessons to all the children.

When it comes to educational resource, another factor has to be considered, it is enough to be allocated to each child having a special designed curriculum. For a certain child, before the curriculums are determined, a scientific and reliable investigation has been conducted and confirms the talents, intellectual level, and so on. Afterward, the committees of education make up the curriculum and a well qualified teacher is sent. However, common sense tells us that it is not easy to find a best matched teacher, even if there is enough teachers and other education staff. In short, special designed education for every child is not realistic.

In sum, the author's claim overlooks the importance of individuality and fair, at least some extent. When it comes to meeting the social needs and enough resource, it is reasonable. However, before satisfying these conditions, the position of the author cannot be accepted.
