经过一些站内搜索之后发现tufts相关的信息还是比较少的，那我就趁问director的机会来补充一点吧：

After speaking with our MS Program Director, I have the answers to your questions.

1.       I would love to know previous master's students' placement (2021 and 2022 if possible) going into Ph.D. programs, it would be even better if I could know where the Chinese students are going.

We don't track placements by nationality, but admissions of our MS students into Ph.D. programs in recent years include:

Brown University
Cornell University
Harvard Business School
Univ. of California at Berkeley

University of Minnesota
Michigan State U.
Univ. Virginia
Univ. Maryland

2.       I would like to know more about the research opportunities and exposure available to master's students apart from the master's thesis, and whether there are dedicated semester/summer research sessions available for students.

There are opportunities for master's students to be hired as Research Assistants (RA) by individual professors. Students admitted to the second year (research-based track) have an opportunity to apply for Varkey Summer Research Fellowships, allowing them to pursue research on the topic of their future thesis under the mentorship of their future advisor. During the second year, MS students also take two semesters of a Research Methods sequence (EC 211 and EC 212) where they learn more about research and present their own research in progress.

3.       How many students does the department intend to enroll this year?

While we cannot predict the number of incoming Master’s students at this time, we anticipate, based on the number of admitted students and past yields, that the incoming MS class will have around 25 to 30 students.

4.       If I am not mistaken, tuition for the second year research-track is calculated as $1799 per credit as listed on the tuition & aid section. However, the one-time $54196 tuition has already covered courses in the second year. In all, how much am I expect to pay for the second year?

The amount of $54,196 covers only the first year. The tuition for the second year is substantially lower, as there are fewer credits involved (thirteen additional semester-hour units). If you stay for a second year in order to pursue a research-based MS, your tuition scholarship in the second year will cover the same PERCENTAGE of tuition (80%) as in the first year, and therefore you would have to pay out of pocket only 20% of the (lower) second-year tuition.

跟之前的改变应该是，第二年不是交10k就可以任意上课了，要按学费交费，不过学分有着tw等比例的抵扣。不过他们好像还是不太愿意透露按年的PhD入学情况，了解的前辈或者同学欢迎来补充呀，希望可以帮到有需要的人！

1. placement 20界巅峰后面有下降的趋势，但是tufts的推力大部分来源于和教授亲密的connection，由于两年疫情，所以暂且不知道恢复正常的23届会如何。
2. RA机会，极个别，就是真的极个别。21级至今一共公开open过2个RA position（经济系里的，fletcher也open过，但是没怎么关注），都是with pay。但是这两个RA position都是面向PhD和master共同招人。第一个RA至今不知道被谁拿走（或许是PhD），第二个中国人拿走了。不过暑假会有一个面向全员（或大部分人）的暑期RA。
3. 有扩招趋势，21届 enroll了40人，但是不确定是短期的波动，还是系长期计划的更改。但是另一方面，肉眼可见奖学金也逐年增加。可以自己trade off。对于top学生来说，系里面人多10个少10个，几乎没有任何区别，但是也不要过于的overconfident。tufts通常都是正教授更关注学生的发展。如果系里面top学生成比例的增加，中游中上游学生的空间还是会收到很大程度的挤压的。
4.不过tufts的师生关系还是一如既往的友善。总的来说，现在看22级的奖学金情况感觉就是奖学金份额可能比21级更高，但是或许会面临和21级一样的cohort（40人）。比起前面的学生，竞争程度上会显得更加激烈，但是费用更低。
