Dear perspective students:

Welcome to apply for my research group at Southern Illinois University!

SIU is a public university, located at Carbondale, Illinois. It is a research-oriented

institution and its engineering school ranks around 100 in US. The ECE department

(http://engineering.siu.edu/elec/) is very attractive and especially strong in VLSI area.

What research do we do?

My group focuses on power management IC design and system level optimization. You

will access to research projects on analog/ digital VLSI design, device/circuit/system co-
design and optimization, and energy harvesting embedded systems. We will design,

layout, tapeout and measure our VLSI chips in lab, and present our results in

international top conferences. In addition to VLSI design, we also explore system-level

optimization of electronic systems through device/circuit/system level cross-layer co-
design and optimization. My research has strong connections to industry. Ph.D.

graduates in the research topics are popular and highly demanded/highly paid in the US

job market. Recent Ph.D. graduates of VLSI areas at ECE department of SIU got jobs in

Intel, AMD, LSI Logic, NVIDIA, etc.

What are graduate admission requirements?

Internet-based TOEFL >80 or 6.5 on the IELTS

GRE required

Currently we are actively looking for qualified Ph.D. students who are willing to start in

Fall 2015. Graduate students or undergraduate with background in analog/digital IC

design, embedded system, system-level optimization are encouraged to apply. If you are

Accepted Ph.D. students will be provided with full financial support for the entire PhD

study (mostly 4 years).
