ISSUE48 The study of history places too much emphasis on individuals. The most significant evident and trends were made possible not by the famous few, but by great groups of people whose identities have long been forgotten.
WORDS: 623                                                 Time: 1:20’             DATE: 30 Jul.

The speaker claim that significant evident and trends in history are made more possible by the most group of people who have been long forgotten than these famous few, and that the study of history should focus more on the group rather than the few. I admit the former claim in some degree, but fundamentally disagree with the latter one. Though groups of people by which history especially the significant events and trends were made should not be neglected, the famous individuals need to be paid attentions much more.

Admittedly, the crucial impetus which determines the trend and evolvement of history comes from the most group of people. It's the great mass’s requirement for society change that creates the prerequisite of the evolvement trends of history, and the multitude’ common but finally crucial activities that cooperate together to create the most significant events and trends of history. Deviating from the most groups of people’s requirement, or without the help from these mass, whoever, even with great genius, cannot affect too much on the history. In this degree, there are no others beside the most group of people who take a pivotal role in the historical process.

But it's too harsh to conclude the assertion that we should pay less attention on the famous few when study on history. An obvious reason is that the famous few, who act as a trigger in the historical process, is also one of the groups of people who create the history, even a more outstanding one. He or she always concentrates all the crucial elements of the great mass, such as the tough character, the sturdy faith, and the strong believe that people deserve a more comfortable and civilized life. So centralize our study foci on these famous few who represent the most nameless and faceless people will get twice the result with half the effort.

Moreover, there are little materials and documents about the most groups of people in history, as most of historical notes had record only the story of the few outstanding and famous persons. For example, we can find a lot of files about the president Washington George, such as how he direct the stratagem in the War of Independence, how he lead the brave American people to establish their country, and even how he confess his lie on cutting a cheer tree in his childhood, while little documents about the nameless residents in the town Lexington, who are also the participator and creator of the War of Independence.

In addition, the story of famous few can educate and encourage us as they are so vivid and inspiring because of the aureole of giant, while their counterparts are much more common and few of us would like to pay too much attention to them. When we told the Washington’s story about cheer tree to a child, he or she will be willing to give audience to, and may finally benefit from it, because it’s the story of the magnificent president Washington. But when it comes to the story of a man name “Someone”, the child may turn his head beside, and say “Who care!” The great few’ stories always have more educational and inspiring meaning.

To sum up, although it’s the groups of nameless, noteless and faceless people that provide the crucial and pivotal power to drive the history evolve ahead, the importance of studying on “the famous few” could never be taken any cutting. This viewpoint base on the fact that the famous few is the outstanding represent of the nameless mass, that the data about them are more plenitude and the research on them will be more efficient, and that the story of them have much more education and inspiring meaning.

The speaker claim(claims没有用word更正?...) that significant evident and trends in history are made more possible by the most group(?) of people who have been long forgotten than(more than?会不会跟题设有点不一致?) these famous few, and that the study of history should focus more on the group(groups) rather than the few. I admit the former claim in(to) some degree, but fundamentally disagree with the latter one. Though groups of people by which history especially the significant events and trends were made should not be neglected, the famous individuals need to be paid attentions much more.

Admittedly, the crucial impetus which determines the trend and evolvement of history comes from the most group of people. It's the great mass’s requirement for society change that creates the prerequisite of the evolvement trends of history, and the multitude’ common but finally crucial activities that cooperate together to create the most significant events and trends of history(这句好长...).

An obvious reason is that the famous few, who act as a trigger in the historical process(比喻不错), is also one of the groups of people who create the history, even a more outstanding one. He or she always concentrates all the crucial elements of the great mass, such as the tough character, the sturdy faith, and the strong believe that people deserve a more comfortable and civilized life. So centralize our study foci on these famous few who represent the most nameless and faceless people will get twice the result with half the effort.

(这么长的例子,稍微summarize下就更好了)

But when it comes to the story of a man name “Someone”, the child may turn his head beside, and say “Who care!” The great few’ stories always have more educational and inspiring meaning.(同上段)
