又憋出一篇恐怖的文章,请大家多担待~狠拍啊!!!!哈哈哈
3 Educational institutions have a responsibility to dissuade students from pursuing fields of study in which they are unlikely to succeed.
Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the claim. In developing and supporting your position, be sure to address the most compelling reasons and/or examples that could be used to challenge your position.
The speaker claims that education institutions shouldn't support students to study fields that they may not achieve success in the future career or research. This claim means that if students are likely to succeed, we shouldn't prevent them from research in that field. Admittedly, some people believe that whether one can obtain achievements must be influenced by several reasons one cannot control, such as talent, opportunity and education conditions. However, people ignore the definition of success, which can be divided into different level.
If we define success as the improvement of individual capability, we, including education institutions, should support students pursue any field they would like to study. Through the process of study in these fields, they will have opportunity to acquire several of knowledge, approach brilliant thoughts of mavens and enjoy the collision spark from distinguish theories. Maybe some of these can enlighten students and become the significant footstone. For example, Leonardo Da Vinci one of the most famous artist was proficient in anatomy, physics, which field may did not help him to become a master, however, undeniably, pursuing these fields let him construct his own knowledge system, finally helped him reach the peak of art work creation.
If we define success as achieving self-worth and challenge oneself, we also should support the pursuing action of students, because everyone empowers to attain their dreams. For instance, Oscar Pistorius is a physical challenged athlete. In general, he should be dissuade to practice running, but in order to prove himself, challenge himself, he not only become an excellent athlete, but also participate in Paralympics Games. What's more, the South Africa national Olympic group has already invited him as the formal team member of 4*400 relay races. If some organizations prevent Oscar Pistorius from practice running because of his disabled legs, this world would lost a great athlete.
If we define success as the contribution of society, we still shouldn't against students do what they want to do, restrain them to study what they want to study. Could you imagine how boring and monotonous it is, if students only concentrate on one field? Just like Wikipedia providing a wonderful platform for everyone to contribute to society on the internet. Not does every entry actually edit by people who specialize in this field, but by everyone who has interested in this field. Maybe many of them do better and have more original ideas than the professionals. Leading by the best teacher -- interest, students will surprise the world.
In conclusion, I disagree with the claim the speaker gave. Through refreshing the definition of success, I procure several different results. Educational institutions as trustable organizations should broaden their vision and recognize the diverse level of success including individual improvement, challenging and society level.
