Society depends upon technology to find solutions to environmental problems
The high development of technology brings benefits to us at the expense of causing so many environmental problems. It is no doubt that the environmental problems are largely due to the use of technology. Just like an old proverb, they that hide can find. Sometimes these environment problems need to be solved through the use of technology. However, technology is a tool controlled by people, whether the use of technology contributes to causing or soloing the environment problems also depends on people’ attitudes and awareness.

The development of technology changes people’ life greatly. With the help of modern transportation, people can now go everywhere in any place at any time, which was impossible for ancient people. Thanks to Internet and advanced computer, people can now enjoy chatting with people in different country or in another hemisphere with no obstacle. People can also get the first information they want in Internet to refresh their knowledge background and make them up-to-date. However, the technology causes so much damage on our environment. The noxious gases pined by the automobile pollutes the air. The leaking radiation causes terrible consequences to both people and environment. And the       industry wastewater made by some chemical factories poured into the river without treatment contaminate the river and killed the fish or other plankton. The environment problems caused by the use of technology became more serious today in large scale and arouse so many people’ attention.

Some problems caused by the use of technology depend on the development of technology to find the way to solve. Take the poisonous gases produced by transportation vehicle for example, it is up to building the new types of transportations, which use the new sources to motivate to replace the old ones, then to reduce the air pollution. It is also desirable to develop the efficient way to exploity the solar energy. If the way is found, it could reduce the expense of transportation as well as the environment problems caused by it. The battery also causes a great radiation problems on environment, if the way of decomposition of the used battery or the way to recycle it is being found, there is no doubt that people can save the resource or reduce the damage it causes.

Everything has two sides. Technology is just a tool. People play important role in deciding whether technology brings good or bad on our environment. The first example here came to mind is the atomic power. No one today can deny the great power as well as the great potential risk the atomic power contains. If people used this technology in developing and producing advanced weapons, and threw them on the land of other country, it does cause disaster. Such as Hiroshima, the first atomic bomb dropped on here had a yield of 20 kiloton. Enormous people died instantly and thousands of others suffered from different consequential deadly diseases and lingered on to death. The local ecological balance also was destroyed. It tool long time to efface the damage both on environment and in people’ heart. Thanks to that unforgettable nightmare, most countries in the world today are resisting the use of atomic power in weapons, but in other fields. People now built lots of nuclear power stations, which have a great advantage in providing the energy resources. So if people have no intention to protect the environment or do not realize the possible damage on environment and take the useful measures to prevent so, the use of technology, no matter how development it is, cannot solve the environmental problems existed.

In summary, the technology is a tool in people’ hands. It is a treasure belongs to all human being, of course, it should bring benefits to all human being and all generations instead benefit some, but hurt other’ interests.
