In the civilization history of human being, there are various sorts of artists who create the lasting artworks, such as the books, films, paintings or sculptures. And the critics make more people to realize the great value of these artworks. At the same time, the critics can help artist create more or better artworks to some extent. It is the cooperation between artists and critics who give birth to the valuable artworks.

Admittedly, it is the artist who creates the artworks. No artist, no artworks. Most of artists have more sensitive sights and feelings than ordinary people to find the wonderful and marvelous scenery of the nature, to probe the interior beauty or ugliness of human being, to grasp the essence of the society as well. Moreover, they have the ability to transfer their perspective or feelings into artworks in order to share with more people. From the famous film "Titanic", we are tearful and moved by the deeply love between Jack and Rose, at the same time we know the true meaning of love -- live a better and longer life. When we read the fiction "The old man and sea" written by Hemingway, everyone can feel the courage of the old fisherman and the complicated relationship between the live and death.

No one can deny the performance of artists.  However, the artist always inclines to express the soul and meaning in a special or indirect way, which is hard for average people to understand or comprehend the true signification or pith thoroughly. So, the critic plays an important role in explaining the artworks to the common people and making more and more people to realize the kernel of the artworks. It is a very necessary and significant for artworks to maintain long time influence or value. Take the Chinese famous fiction "Dream of the red chamber" for an example, many scholars and critics pay attention to and research on it, of course, based on their achievement, we can learn more detail information about the real live in that time and the profound meaning of author.

We must know that the relationship between artists and critics is not opposite mutually exclusive, but mutually interrelated. Critic evaluates the merits and demerit of one artwork according to his or her professional knowledge, simultaneously; the comments will help artists realize shortcomings or imperfections, which redound to the improvement of artists. The better artwork is, the longer time it can last. In addition, it is obvious that unprofessional people have not enough time to appreciate every artwork in the world, in that there are numerous existent artworks and new one is created continuously. With the assistance of critics, we can enjoy not only the outstanding artworks but also our favorite style ones. Critics’ endeavor benefits the larger and longer effect-range of artworks.

To sum up, both the artist and the critic are important for giving society something of lasting value. Without the artist, there is no valuable artworks come into being the world. Without the critic, maybe the value of the artworks cannot last long period.
