TOPIC:ARGUMENT 51 - The following appeared in a medical newsletter.

"Doctors have long suspected that secondary infections may keep some patients from healing quickly after severe muscle strain. This hypothesis has now been proved by preliminary results of a study of two groups of patients. The first group of patients, all being treated for muscle injuries by Dr. Newland, a doctor who specializes in sports medicine, took antibiotics regularly throughout their treatment. Their recuperation time was, on average, 40 percent quicker than typically expected. Patients in the second group, all being treated by Dr. Alton, a general physician, were given sugar pills, although the patients believed they were taking antibiotics. Their average recuperation time was not significantly reduced. Therefore, all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain would be well advised to take antibiotics as part of their treatment."

In this article, the author cites a study which includes two groups of patients who accept two different methods to cure their injured muscle to defend his recommendation that all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain would be well advised to take antibiotics as part of their treatment. I find several logical and statistical problems which make the conclusion unconvincing.

To begin with, the statistical reliability of the study is questionable. The convincing results rely on a sample which is sufficient in size and representative of the overall. However the author provided no accurate information on the sample. If the amount of the sample is very small, 50 or 100, it can not suitable to reflect the overall. It is also possible that some patients are injured worse and other have a slight strain. In this way, even if they accept the same cure it can not make sure they can obtain the same effect.

Another point to consider is that the author fails to inform us that other factors which affect the recuperation are similar of the two groups. Aside from the antibiotics, whether the two doctors use other same drugs, whether one of them cares more about his patients or whether the environment of the ward for the two groups is similar? The author fails to account for these factors, thus can not make his recommendation sound.

Finally, the assertion is still unwarranted in two respects. First, the author fails to equal the muscle strain with muscle injuries. In fact the muscle strain can heal without obtaining any cure. Second, perhaps other methods such as fixing the local part which is injured and suffocating it by a warm bottle are better than taking antibiotics. Without addressing these better and valid methods the author can not justify his conclusion with any confidence.

In sum, the assertion that all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain are suitable to take antibiotics is untenable in light of unreliable statistics and a variety of alternative explanations. To strengthen it the author should provide accurate information of the study such as the amount of the sample and other methods which are used to cure the patients by the two doctors. To better evaluate the argument we would need more information about whether other methods are more available to the illness.

In this article argument, the author cites a study which includes two groups of patients who accept two different methods to cure their injured muscle who are offered different methods treating their injured muscle.to cure这种不定试一般表主动,在这里你主语是病人,他们是被治疗,所以这种说法不恰当to defend his recommendation that all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain would be well advised to take antibiotics as part of their treatment. I find several logical and statistical problems which make the conclusion unconvincing.

To begin with, the statistical reliability of the study is questionable. The convincing results rely on a sample which is sufficient in size and representative of the overall.这是形容词,这里要得是名词 However the author provided with no accurate information on the sample. If the amount of the sample is very small, 50 or 100, it can not suitable to reflect the overall. It is also possible that some patients are injured worse and whileother have a slight strain. In this way, even if they accept the same cure it can not make sure ascertain they can obtain the same effect.

Another point to consider is that the author fails to inform us that other factors which affect the recuperation are similar of the two groups 不太明白你这里的意思. Aside from the antibiotics, whether the two doctors use other same drugs, whether one of them cares more about his patients or whether the environment of the ward for the two groups is similar换词? The author fails to account ignores accounting for these factors, thus he can not make his recommendation sound.

Finally, the assertion is still unwarranted in another two respects. First, the author fails to equal这词你想表达的意思是?? the muscle strain with muscle injuries. In fact the muscle strain can heal without obtaining any cure.treatment Second, perhaps other methods such as fixing the local这词再斟酌 part which is injured and suffocating it by a warm bottle are better than taking antibiotics. Without addressing these better and valid methods the author can not justify his conclusion with any confidence.
这段不错

In sum, the assertion that all patients who are diagnosed with muscle strain换个说法,不要抄原文 are suitable to take antibiotics is untenable in light of unreliable statistics and a variety of alternative explanations. 这个表达很好啊To strengthen it the author should provide accurate information of the study such as the amount of the sample and other methods which are used to cure the patients by the two doctors. To better evaluate the argument we would need more information about whether other methods are more available to the illness.
总体不错,逻辑清晰.每个论点可以再稍微深入点(如果时间够的话)
