数学PHD与MFE

请问各位有经验的朋友，据说不少美国的顶级Master of Financial Engineering项目都喜欢招数学的PhD或是在金融部门有过丰富经验的人。

那么如果打算想先读完数学PhD再通过读MFE转行金融，应该申请数学哪个方向的PhD比较有利呢？谢谢。

first of all... PHD are intended for those who want to be faculty...math PHD can be really tedious and hard for those job-oriented students when they dont have time to appreciate the beauty of mathematical theorems and proofs.

second of all... it 's totally unnecessary to apply for PHD just because you want to have the edge when you apply for MFE...i would say...go for MFE in the first place...it wont be a waste of time when you figure out the huge difference between any math PHD program and MFE...

而且纯粹抱着找工作的目的去读math phd,很可能毕业不了

不过lz说考虑的有一定的道理，，因为根据NYU的金融数学post的建立来看，大陆学生的背景90%已经有一个美国的PHD了或者还在读。
