As we know, there are many people suggest us to do something when we are growing up. In China, there is an ancient tradition that my husband must be chosen by my parents. Moreover, so many people let others make decision for them because they think others are always right. However, I hold the contrary opinion that we should make our own decisions for ourselves.
First and foremost, only I can feel what I really want so I'm the best candidate for deciding. For example, when choosing a college, my father prefers all universities in California no matter what it is because California is famous for its fine climate and it's the state has the environment closest to where I live now. But I think the purpose I go to college is studying, not vacating. I prefer the school full of competitive students. There is a saying: only stronger one can make you stronger. For improving myself, I want to discuss, study and do experiments with those intellect. I have not decided which college to apply but I'm sure I will comply with my heart.
Additionally, I don't trust others. Because we are competing for the same goal, some bad may tell me some falsehood in order to orient me for a wrong direction. For instance, one of my classmate told me that the SAT test date for Jan 23th is not available so I had to register for the later test date, which made me lose a good chance for trying. And she said she could not register either so she would take the test in May and encouraged me to do so. But when I registered by myself I found that I could enroll for January and any dates. Several days before the test day, she told me she asked someone help her get a special access for January and explained a lot how hard she got that access. When I told her I registered successfully, she looked surprised and denounced me why I did not trust her. It's pretty clear that she wanted to prevent me taking this good opportunity.
As far as I am concerned, because only we know ourselves the best and others may trap us we should make decision by ourselves.
