120"So much is new and complex today that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance forliving in the present."

In this era of dramatic social and culture development bringing us a brand new and intricate live, perhaps no one has notnoticed the radical differences between the past and present. However, squarely claiming that understanding the history is of little value for living inpresent is not easy to be agreed.

First of all, undoubtedly, in thisunprecedented information-explosion society, new things come out almost everyday. Thus we need to learn a variety of new knowledge and techniqu esceaselessly so as to keep pace with the times. We should learn how tomanipulate the computer, especially when requiring the information which is available on the internet; we must be awareness of the law which is relative toour everyday life, particularly when needing to protect our civil rights; andalso we should concern about the news report in order to acquaintance the worldand the era we live in.

Although learning something new isimportant for every one of us, it dose not mean that we could forget the past. One the contrary, looking back to the history, we can find plentiful treasuresof human civilization, we can see the shining crystals of human wisdom and wecan meet the great philosophers who can give us inspirations. Thus, understanding the past will surely bring us countless benefits, and neglect the history is indeed not so wise.

On one hand, today's scientific research isbased on the results of the past. Scientific research is like the process of building a stairway, every scientific achievement is like each stair of it. Ifthe former stairs were abandoned, no matter how endeavoring we might be, it isabsolutely impossible for us to climb higher. Only when we study well aboutwhat our predecessors had already gained, can we step up the former stairs and add one more stair on the top of the others. Newton once said that “If I have seen further it is only by standing on the shoulders of giants.” This is a best demonstration.

On the other hand, to realize the mistakesof the past can prevent us form repeating them again. It is good to learn atanother man's cost, similarly, we can also use the history as guide and mirrorto judge whether the policy carried out today is appropriate. The developmentof social civilization is just like a growing individual. If this individualtend to examine his or her own, he or she may hardly make a same mistake for the second time. Thus, we should looking back to the past and give a close analysis to the causes of these mistakes, so as to ensure our society developsas smoothly as possible.

Lastly, to be the offspring of our nation,it is our duty to pass down our own culture. Every country in this world musthave its own mental backbone, which may be embodied as the specific ethos or themoral principles, without it, the whole nation may lose its own criteria forjudgment. Its formation is based on the intricate process of social andcultural development. So, it is essential for us to study the past.

To sum up, although today's society is much different from the past, it is superficial to claim that to understand the pastprovides little guidance for living in the present, because the history hasalready infiltrated in every aspects of our lives. Only when we understand thepast can we understand ourselves profoundly.

In this era of dramatic social and culture development bringing(bring) us a brand new and intricate live, perhaps no one has notnoticed(noticed) the radical differences between the past and present. However, squarely claiming that understanding the history is of little value for living in present is not easy to be agreed.

Thus we need to learn a variety of new knowledge and technique esceaselessly so as to keep pace with the times. We should learn how to manipulate the computer, especially when requiring the information which is available on the internet; we must be awareness(aware 不过还是觉得这个单词用的不好, aware是意识到的意思,用在这里不妥) of the law which is relative to/relevant to our everyday life, particularly when needing(we need ) to protect our civil rights; and also we should concern about (删掉about)the news report in order to acquaintance the world(acquaintance是名词,这里需要动词) and the era we live in.

Although learning something new is important for every one of us, it dose not mean that we could forget the past. One the contrary, looking back to the history, we can find plentiful treasures of human civilization, we can see the shining crystals of human wisdom and we can meet the great philosophers who can(删) give us inspirations(这句话不理解哦 philosopher都死了 怎么meet啊). Thus, understanding the past will surely bring us countless benefits, and neglect (neglecting)the history is indeed not so wise.
