In modern society, education is attached more and more significance. Recently, there is a heated discussion about which should be given precedence, understanding ideas and concepts or learning facts. Some maintain it is facts that should be given more emphasis, for the primary purpose of learning is to achieve knowledge. However, according to(from可能更好) my perspective, understanding ideas and concepts are more important than simply obtain(obtaining) facts.(感觉这一段有点小小的啰嗦)
First of all, no one could deny one of the crucial elements
in academic development is creativity. Nevertheless, learning facts cannot develop students' creativity; only by comprehending the ideas and concepts behind facts as well as theories, can students cultivate creativity to embrace future challenges. For
example, Edison, who dropped school at 10 years old, was barely informed with(我只知道这个词有 使活跃的意思,be provided with)
sufficient facts and knowledge, but he had a good understanding of electricity and its principles, so he were capable of making more than 1000 extraordinary inventions, such as light, bulb, projector, leading human being to a new era. In this case, we can draw to a conclusion that understanding ideas and concepts will improve students' creativity, which benefit them in future academic research.
Furthermore, gaining an insight of ideas and concepts inevitably improve students' effects and efficiency on learning facts. As we all know, without a logical clues and general understanding about(of) a fact, it is extremely difficult for students to keep them in mind. For instance, if a student has no idea of what is capitalism and socialism, there is no surprising(doubt) that he will encounter problems on remembering the World War One, the World War Two, even the whole human history in recent 100 years. On the other hand, if comprehending such relevant concepts, the student will has a better and clearer memory about these historical facts. Based on this case, ideas and concepts are crucial for students to promote learning efficiency, especially in remembering facts.
Nevertheless, learning facts is entitled as laying foundation for students' thinking structure. From the vivid and suspicious facts, students can probably catch some wisdom, which are not available in abstract ideas and concepts. Besides, learning fact will simultaneously deepen the understanding of ideas and concepts. Therefore, a wiser way for students is to properly combine both together.
In conclusion, according to history , I believe ideas and concepts are more important
than learning facts, considering the former has more ability to improve students' creativity and learning efficiency.
