Yale: GRE scores for the General Test and for the Subject Test in the area of the undergraduate major should accompany an application.

Have you taken GRE subject? I planned to take it, but I really don't have time to prepare for it, especially since I have not finished abstract algebra, or advanced calc, I was afraid that I can't do very very well (like what Harvard wants). Therefore, I cancelled it.... Do you think it will hurt me a lot? I mean, for those schools which didn't even say recommend, does it mean they really don't care at all?

no.i didn't and i never planned to...

because i know i don't have time to study for it and i m not taking abstract algebra till this term...

i am applying a couple of schools that highly recommend GRE SUB but i dont care... i really cannot find time to fit this thing into my schedule and i m not using it as an excuse so i barely think about the weight of it... There is nothing i can do about it : ))

my strategy is thinking positively and if the result does not turn out as i expected, i just deal with it... XD

Yale: Applicants to the Ph.D. program should also submit a GRE score for a subject test (usually Mathematics). Even if the subject score is missing, the Department will usually consider the application. Of course a missing score will decrease an applicant's chances of success.
