Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? If you do not make sure other people (especially influential people or your employers) know about your strengths and accomplishments, you will never get successful in life.
What sort of characteristics can define a person as a potential one? Bearing strong learning ability? Possessing a wide variety of knowledge? Or having outstanding interpersonal skills? Actually, no matter what kind of capacity you are equipped with, the first and most substantial thing is to let other people aware of it.
If others have never noticed your strengths and accomplishments, how can they trust you and allocate important tasks to you? It is universally acknowledged that people will never consider you as a trust-worthy partner until they fully understand you. For instance, during the promotion election, each candidate spare no effort to show their distinguished ability in dealing with business or their great achievements made in the past. Why do they attempt to perform every detail of their advantages? Because they know it clearly that the employer wants to find someone unique or someone extraordinarily talented to work as a helpful assistant. It is apparently to see that only if you use facts to tell others that you can handle with various emergency and difficulties, can your supervisor start to be willing to know about you, and then to promote you. Every opportunity can mean a lot. Consequently, you have to grasp every chance to 'sell' yourself, making yourself attractive and competitive. Throughout the accumulation of every single step, you can eventually reach the peak of success.
On quite the contrary, can you imagine the consequence if you hide all your strengths and accomplishment, and perform too' low key'. People, especially the influential people and employers will never know how helpful you are, or even do not aware your existence. In this circumstance, how can you make any progress, let alone get successful in life. Here is a true story of my friend, who graduated as an excellent student from the top university in my country and won a great number of awards from school, enterprises or kinds of competition. He is now working in the bank and is a typically 'low key' people. Seldom did he tell others how outstanding he used to be in the university and how many students works he has dealt with because he believe those accomplishments have already past and can prove nothing. Even though he works hard in the bank and performed well, he still works as a teller while his classmate, who entered the bank at the same time with him and are good at approving himself, have been promoted to be a department directors.
I am not trying to claim high position equals to success, nevertheless high position can at least bring dignity and pride to a person, and this may make contribution to a successful life. All in all, making sure others know about your strengths and accomplishment can, in most circumstances, assist you to get a successful life.
