Today, I’dlike to turn our attentionto an area ofmanagement often overlooked in traditionalmanagement courses: Small-business management. Small businesseshave gone from being traditional small-town stores sellingfood or clothing to sophisticated, high-tech enterprices. And inaddition to the aimportant products they produce, they createjobs for a lots of people because there are so many of them. It’s important formanagement to keep in mind which of the
customer’s needs the business serves, because it can’t serve all their needs. Writing a business planthat everyone in the organization understandsand follows will help to provide the necessary focus inand direction. It’s important to state clearlywhat the purpose of thebusiness is. In Additionally, each person within the organization must know what tasks to perform in order to fulfill thatpurpose. Now, if for some reason a business plan doesn’t work, try hard to discover whynot. rewrite it, and immediately focus on thenew plan. A word of caution however, never giveup a bad plan without replacing it. A business has to have a plan because it can’t afford to for waste its limitedresources. And, as you know, wastes leads too unnecessarilyhigh production costs. Production costs are at the heart of the company’s of ability to make a high quality products and sell it atan affordableprice.
今天开始场景下campus 1,
It seems like only yesterday that I was sitting where you are, justfinishing my first year of medical school, andwondering if I’d ever get a chance to use all my new knowledge on a real live
patient! Well, I have good news for you! You don’t have to wait until your third or fourthyear of medical school to get some hands-on experience! Thedean has invited mehere to tell you about the university’s rural opportunity program. If you enroll in this program, youcan have the opportunity this summer, after yourfirst year of medical school, to spend from fourto six weeks observing and assisting a real physicianlike me in a small rural community. You won’thave to compete with other students for time and attention, and you can seewhat life as a country doctor is really like. Theprogram was designed to encourage medicalstudents just like yourselvesto consider careers in rural communities that are still understaffed..It seems that existence medical studentsare afraid to go into to rural family practice for two reasons: First, they don’tknow much about it, And second, specialists inthe cities usually make more money. But, on the up-side, role in rural practice, doctor can really get to know theirpatients and be respected members of thecommunity. I participated in the this program when it first started, and spent sixweeks in a small rural town. Let me tell you, itwas really great! I got to work with real patients, I watchedthe birth of a child, assisted an accident with a victim, and had a lots of really practical hands-on experience--,all in one summer. And to my surprise, I found thatcountry life has a lot to offer that city life doesn’t--No pollution or traffic jamsfor instance! My experience made me want to workwhere I’m needed and appreciated.I don’t miss thecity at all!

In the fewminutes that remain of today’s class, I’d liketo discuss next week’s schedule with you. BecauseI’m presenting a paper at a conference in Detroiton Thursday, I won’tbe here for either Wednesday’s or Friday’sclass. I will, however, be have a meet here for Monday’s.Next Friday, a week from today, is the midterm exam. Marking the halfwaypoint in the semester. Professor Andrews has agreed administrate to administerthe exam. In place of the usual Wednesday class, I’ve arranged an optional review session. Since it is a easyoptional, attendance will not be taken.; however attending the class would be agood idea for those worried about the midterm. So remember, optional class next Wednesday; midterm,Friday.
但愿有提高啊,不然我就更郁闷了。
I need to make sure you understand how toget the housing for next year. When you enteredschool as thefirst-year studentsthis year, the school assigned you to a the dorm and a roommate. But next year, as returning students, you’ll choose both your roommate and your dorm. But whether or not you actually get to live inyour first choice, depends on what number you or your roommate draws in the lotterysystem. The system gives the priority to the students who have been here longest. Fourth-year students get the first blockof numbers., third-years get the second block, and second-years--like you’llbe--get the third. The lower the number you draw, the sooner you choose. Numberone gets the first choice, number two gets the second choice, and so on. Youcan use either your won ornumber or your intended roommate’s numberto make your room choice. If your roommate fornext year has been at theschool longer than you have, they’ll be in a better block of numbers, and so will have a better numberthan any second-year student. But the most of you will probably be rooming with other second-yearstudents and so neitherof you may have a great number. You may not get intoyour first or even second choice. Of course, ifyou’ve made plans to live off campus, you don’tneed to enter thelottery at all. Dorm space will be especially tight this year because the dorms on North Campus willbe closed for renovations. This means that thoseof you who draw the worst numbers won’t be able to get at dorm housingat all. In that case, the housing office willhelp you find the off-campus housing.

Good afternoon, I’m here today to talk toyou about a career with our airline. We’re especially
interested in recruiting people to fill openings for flight attendants. First of all, to work asa flight attendant with us, you must be accepted into our training program---and with so many people applying, it’s not easy to be selected. From the thousands of applications that we receive annually, we choose fewer than a thousand people for training. So, we require experience serving the public, and it also helps if you’ve earned difference some college credits. Also, not everybody who gets accepted into the training program makes it through. The course meets six days a week for five weeks. The training includes extensive classroom work in such subjectsas first aid and passenger psychology, as well as practical training in flight for procedures and meal service. A lot of our graduates say that our fight attendants develop the skills of a nurse, a headwaiter, and apublic relations executive! But, as a this flight attendant in myself, I can say that all of the hard work is worth it. Of course, I get to travel throughout the country, and the airline pays all of my expenses while I’m away from my base station. And,what I like this the best of all is that I’ve made the friends with people from all over the country!
