(09.08.01NA)   Do you agree or disagree with the following statement? If you do not make sure other people (especially influential people or your employers) know about your strengths and accomplishments, you will never get successful in life.


With the rapid development of society, one of the universal issues that cause increasing concern is how to be success. Loads of people feel that only showing other people their strengths and accomplishments can help them getting successful. But is it true? As an old saying that every road leads to Rome, I believe that people who not showing other people their strengths and accomplishments can also become achievement.

First and foremost, the ultimate step to invite successful is not showing but one’s hard work as well as dedication. If people do not work hard or dedicate themselves, it is easy to imagine that even if they want to let other people aware that they are outstanding, others will only look upon them as forgettable even overdoes human beings because they never use their strengths. There is no company values a useless genius, and there is nobody wants to make a friend that strength enough but even not helpful. Every human being knows that a person with nobody appreciate will hardly be successful in life. Thus, people are more likely to get successful if they can work hard and have the sprite of dedication.

Otherwise, showing one’s strengths and accomplishments to people dose have a serious problem that one will catch the eyes of others besides one’s competitors. They will do all the things they can to stop the person from one’s way to success. This person will face more difficulties and challenges than the normal in the person’s daily life. It is to say that it will be more difficult to get successful if one attracts people’s attentions.

In addition, let us take the word successful into account. What is successful? Is successful only means that having a lot of money or letting others admire? Why not just be a forgettable but happy person who is not be concentrated by others? Nowadays, the majority of the people whose what we called “successful people” are not happy and in bad health. What I want to say is that these people are not really successful; successful also include living a happy and healthy life in this complicated world. This element is often be set light by people. Therefore, there is no need to show the strengths and accomplishments to people.

From what have been discussed above, we can safety arrive at a conclusion that people can get successful without making others know about their strengths and accomplishments

In general, the reading and the lecture are both talking about the problem of the science of archeology in the United Kingdom. The author of the reading passage feels that the science of archeology in Britain is limited and has problems. On the contrary, the listening material is convinced that the new guide line which is adopted in 1990 improved the archaeology.

The reading material first point out that the government built a lot of new buildings instead of saved the valuable artifacts. The professor, however, mentions that after the new rules are adopted, if there is any artifact that archaeologists are interested in, they can get together the government officials and builders to discuss the plan for build the buildings around that with them. So the valuable artifacts will be saved.

In addition, contrary to the belief in the passage that the archaeologists felt that they have financial problems because the government did not support them; the speaker says that the archaeologists were paid by construction companies but not the government. They got the whole financial support from the construction companies so they did not have the issue of money.

Finally, the writing stated that the jobs of archaeology are really few and archaeologists got less money so that many people cannot study archaeology. While the professor claimed that more jobs and more paid works are offered by the government for archaeologists after 1990. Archaeologists could work in diverse fields and do many different kinds of works. Therefore they can achieve their career dreams in archaeology.

Moreover, although you used a model as the start of the essay, however, the topic sentences and the quotation there is powerful.
