09.03.29 do you agree or disagree, students will not use printed books anymore.
Nowadays, with the rapid pace of technological development, an increasing number of new inventions have been crowding out the traditional means of life. One of the most eye-catching products is the electronic books, which are widely used among students as an alternative of printed books. However, this latest comer is now being questioned by more and more educators who complain that this electronic product has brought many problems like the financial decline of publishers and the vision loss of students.
I concede their opinions. From my perspective, nevertheless, the reduction or even the elimination of printed books would be a conformation of the inevitable process of social development, considering the effectiveness of work and the protection of environment the electronic books may bring about.
Initially, in the past decades, students have been dug as equivalent of brain workers as well as labor workers, for their both mental and physical challenges. It is realistically depicted in our daily life that a college student grabs his 2-kilogram textbook of Physics, with a thickness of 3 inches, from the shelf into his bag, which has already been crammed with a large number of paper books. Due to the overload, his bag may untimely give a strike and all the books dramatically fall down the ground on his way rushing to the classroom, contributing to nothing but annoy and embarrassment. How convenient it could be if we can be equipped with some extremely thin electronic product, which weighs no more than 1 kilogram and possibly serves as a fabulous replacement of mountains of printed books. Now, electronic books come out to fit our dream, as long as we download the electronic edition of them in advance.
Lending more credibility to my point of view, people who are stubborn about the printed books fail to take into account the fact that, regardless of the limited value, printed books should be criticized as a waste of wood resource, which obviously do harm to the environment. Obviously, by cutting down the use of printed books and advocating the electronic ones, we save up thousands of hundreds tons of wood. Thus, the popularization of electronic books can make an evident contribution to the reduction in over-consumption of resources. Besides, it is also an active response to the appeal of sustainable life-styles.
In conclusion, it is an undeniable fact -- even for those who have nostalgia about printed books -- that the role which printed books have played for centuries would be taken over by advanced technology as an enhance of the quality of human life. Anyway, the drawbacks of the modern products can be solved with further development. |
