09.03.29 do you agree or disagree, students will not use printed books anymore.$ s' \, y7 _!
There is a hit discussion for a long time concerning whether students will not use printed books in the future. Even though there are one or two disavantages for using printed books such as resource wasting or high costs compared with ebooks, there are far more advantages for students to use printed books which convince me that they will still use printed books.
First of all, some minor disavantages for using printed books include both resoure consuming and relatively high costs. For example, to print books, we have to cut down millions of tree to make paper, which is essential to book printing. As far as I am concerned, cutting a lot of trees will waste a lot of precious forest resource available in the world nowadays, bringing us even more serious ecological problems. Moreover, we also have to pay a lot of money to buy books compared with the ebooks we could get from internet.
Even though there are a couple of disavantages to using printed books, the advantages of printed books far outweigh them. My first reason is that printed books are more convenient. For example, people can read books anywhere in the campus without taking a heavy computer. All we have to do is to put a book, maybe about philosophy or geography, in their bags. We can enjoy our reading time in the shadow of green trees without wondering the power will be off. Moreover, we can turn pages more easily by reading printed books. Whenever we want to find anything we just read before, we can find it as soon as possible. While for ebooks, we may spend a lot of time browsing the contents.
Furthermore, a lot of ancient materials are printed books, which are fragile and could not be converse into ebooks. Students majoring in philosophy and literature are largely likely to read books about ancient thoughts of Greeks, which are preserved in library as printed forms. It is these books, especially precious and important, that would still play an important role in students’ studying. Students who want to go deep into the academic world of philosophy would definitely have to read printed books as the ebooks could not satisfy their appetite for knowledge aquiring. That is to say, printed books will obviously play an important role in students studying lives.
Although I agree that there might be one or two disavantages of printed books, I feel that the advantages are more obvious. Printed books may be, to some degree, resource wasting and expensive. However, considering the convenience and the necessity of precious printed books, I believe that students will still use printed books. |
