When I open safari on my laptop and check the news I subscribed, half of which were talking about the horrible effects caused by earthquake in Japan. The most essential one was the leak of the radiative contaminants from the nuclear plants.  Thousands of people were evacuated by the government and lost their home. Another half of news were reporting Libya president Gaddafi ordered its air force to throw bombs to his citizens.   I am convinced that the breakthrough technology and the development of society change our life
however , and whether our life is getting more comfortable and easier is still a question.

It is true in some aspects, attributed to the cutting-edge technology the last five decades have witnessed a great progress in our life .   The proliferation of the computer boost our efficiency and virtually revolutionize everything. Take the computer science fro example. In 1946, the university of Pennsylvania announced their first computer “ENIAC” for the US army to calculate artillery firing table. It boasted speeds of one thousand time faster than electro-mechanical machines at that time. Currently, the computers have advanced by leaps and bounds. The one I used to send email and draw my design in Autocad are millions time faster than “ENIAC”.

However, negative effects stem from the breakthrough technology can never be denied, one of the worst of which is the pollution around us.  The technological innovations of the nuclear technology, such as nuclear power plants, not only power our machine boost productivity, but also cause horrible pollution once they leak.  Nuclear accident can be traced back to Chernobyl disaster in 1986. An explosion and fire released large quantities of radioactive contamination into the atmosphere, caused 4000 deaths in this accident. Nearly 3 million people were evacuated and resettled from the most severely contaminated area. Recently, Japan is repeating the disaster in Chernobyl , which its nuclear plants were badly damaged and leaking radioactive material to environment. Millions of people will lost their hometown just as the citizens endured in Chernobyl. I am convinced that the citizens from Chernobyl and Fukushima would never agree their life is getting much better due to the “development” of technology. In fact, tears from their eyes show us they are suffering more misery than their grandparents and the grief memory would torture them all their life. Consequently, negative effects derive from the development of technology and society have already threatened and jeopardized our peaceful life.

In conclusion, the development of the technology and society cause both positive and negative effects on our life.  It’s no exaggeration to say that ,in certain place , man and woman are leading a more misery life than their past. The comfortable and ease life call for the prudent consideration of the usage of the technological innovations.  None of us should expect a repeat of Fukushima or Chernobyl disaster in the future.

2。你相信智商高的朋友比幽默感强的重要？
Perhaps no characteristic in friendship is as significance to me as humor. Despite various people may choose intelligence as their answer. But for me, the experience of making numerous friends leads me to believe that humor is important for any relationship.

From certain view, men and women with high IQ can be regarded as a great wealth to their friends. In other words, smart people can render us a more efficient way to solve the problem we face. It is not uncommon to put physicist in the category of smart people. And  they really do a lot for the cutting-edge technology, which boost efficient and revolutionize the whole industry. However, their intelligence also bring another characteristic: arrogance. Arrogance lead them always put themselves on the primary role and refuse to consider other people’s thought, which sometimes caused them to screw up friendship. Additional, during talking with them, I find most of them prefer to move the topic to some professional area and hardly I know something in this specified area , so the atmosphere of talking is becoming unpleasant and boring.  Consequently, It is a bit hard to get along with intelligent people.

Compared to the intelligence, a sense of humor can impove the communication. Sharing your humor ,make your day and other better.The sense of humor appears to be a necessary part of communication.The ability to laugh can dispel tension. Spending time with your humorous friends can lead a healthier life. We all have some misery days, but a joke from a friend can sweep all the sorrow , open our life again. We all carry certain responsibility for our parents, wife , offspring and sometime this responsibility cause horrible pressure which nearly caused you consider suicide yourself, at this very moment, a conversation with humorous friend’s can alleviate the pressure on your shoulder. Without humor, hardly we can see the pleasant side of life.

In the end, nothing is important than humor in a relationship. Humor is a bridge to approach decent friendship. Humor is panacea  to diffuse our torture. Humor is the power to revolutionize our lifestyle.
