The speaker raises serious counterarguments against the reading material by providing drastically different evidence regarding the existence of other stuffs inside the "great houses".

Firstly, the speaker completely denies the theory that the Chaco structures were once used to live, while the reading paragraphs refers that they were purely residential. Few places were proved to exist inside the structures (Only about ten fire places were found even inside the biggest structure of them), which potently demonstrates that there were no enough cook tools to be taken advantages of i.e. the elementary function of the houses is not for people to live.

Secondly, the reading passage introduces a theory that storage of grain maize might be a main function of the Chaco structure; however, the speaker refutes that archaeologists have not uncovered traces of grain maize or any containers used to store the crops. Obviously, people would not simply store the grain maize on the floor inside.

Finally, the theory that houses were used as ceremonial centers, proposed by the reading material, is also denied by the speaker, who points out that sand, stones and other construction tools were also found besides the mound. Thus, we may infer that the so-called ceremonial concretes are actually abandoned building materials and the pots are containers of meals served to building workers.

The professor challenges the criticisms listed in the reading material, claiming that the author is ignorant about how far communal online encydopedias have come, by providing contradictory evidence about the advantages online encydopedias share.

Firstly, the reading passage points out that contributors who are in charge of editing the information of the online encydopedias often lack academic credentials, which accounts for, in many cases, the inaccuracy of information and misleadings. However, the professor refutes that it is impossible to find an encydopedia that is closely perfect due to the inevitable errors, as well as traditional encydopedias. Having eliminated such difference, inaccurate information could be immediately corrected on the internet, while the traditional encydopedias may remain mistakes over a decade.

Secondly, the professor demonstrates alternative strategies of what the author is worried to refute the idea that there is a possibility that hackers and the like can fabricate the original texts and spread the changed versions. One of the strategies, she says, is transforming the online encydopedias into only-read format to ensure its reliability of information. The other maneuver is getting a monitor to find out the changed versions and eliminate those changes.

Finally, the professor explains the reason why online encydopedias is seemingly complex and of no sense of structure is that rather than traditional encydopedias, online encydopedias have no limitation of space, which helps them exhibit more useful and synthetic contents. Obviously, the diversity of use in topics attracts more interests of readers and becomes the biggest advantages of online encydopedias. Thus, we can infer that online encydopedias share more strengths than traditional ones.
