It is generally agreed that society benefits from the work of its members. Compare the contributions of artists to society with the contributions of scientists to society. Which type of contribution do you think is valued more by your society? Give specific reasons to support your answer.

My essay:
With our society more and more modernized and an ascending variety of technologies highly develope, an increasing number of people begin to put more emphasis on science and technologies, meantime question that what role on earth art is playing in developing our country and making our lives better. As far as I am concerned, art has been playing a fundamental role in various aspects of human society through all ages, such as recording the history of past events, reflecting the culture and degree of civilization before and most importantly, serving as the propellant of science and other technologies. Therefore, art benefits society more considering the way it works.
It is actually undeniable that in recent years science and technologies have become isdispensable factors in improving people's living standards and building up our country's integrated strength. Let's bring our discussion here to a more practical context. Think about the smart phones we use everyday. They are so deeply involved in our daily activities that no one could say for sure that he/she would lead a better life with the absence of smart phones, which provide diversified functions making our lives simpler and more convenient, like making calls, sending messages and e-mails, photographing, locating, searching amusement sites nearby, etc. It appears that science and technologies have not only brought us tremendous convenience but also transformed the way we figured things out. However, this does not necessarily mean that science and technologies have outweighed art in their contributions to society.
The role art has been playing in supporting and benefiting the whole society, is fundamental. But why can't many technology fans see this? Easy question. It's because art has been around us for such a long time, since our birth actually. It's like the case of breathing, which is easily forgotten by people, but every single person does breathe in every single second. Creatures will die without breathing and similarly a society will have to collapse with the absence of art, the main provider of people's spirtual adventure. Just imagine what kind of life it will be when you completely lose the access to your favourite songs, fascinating novels, marvellous films, electronic games, etc.
In a final anslysis, it's true that both art and science contribute a great deal to our society. Science, along with technologies, serve as the propellant of society's development and art at the meantime, ensure the whole society functions more basically and silently by satisfying the needs of people's spiritual life.

Do you agree or disagree that dancing plays an important role in a culture.

The majority of people tend to have an unfavorable attitude towards dancing as part of culture. They think that dancing is too superficial to be considered part of culture, which in their minds is something far more profound. Their unfair judgement may origin from the phenomenon that dances are appearing more and more frequently in TV shows, music videos and some other performances of degrade taste, causing people kind of ashamed to acknowledge dance as their culture. Actually, dancing possesses a quite long history and was once the privilege of aristocracy. In recent years dancing is becoming increasingly popular among common people and serves as a way of entertainment. Thus, we can safely come to the conclusion that dancing does play a significant role in our culture, which comes definitely from people’s daily lives.
In the first place, dance is used to express emotions throughout all cultures. Dancers use different movement for the purpose of conveying different emotions like happiness, sadness, fear, excitement, upset and so on. This is like painters and singers would choose certain type of painting to draw and songs to sing when they are trying to show others their specific moods or states of mind.
Secondly, dancing is an excellent way of preserving and retaining culture. It is always involved in a good many regional cultural activities. Consider the Africans for example. In ancient times African people danced together as a ritual at the end of every hunting season to celebrate their affluent harvest and to pray for fortune in the following season. This ritual is continued to today and dance can be seen at any festival and celebration in Africa, at the meantime African culture is well kept and prolonged thanks to the fascinating dancing movements.
Finally, dancing itself is also a fantastic way of exercising our bodies. Most people prefer dancing to any other physical exercise in that dancing appears less vehement in its form and in most cases people would dance to a piece of music, and that seems to have a magic power to make them happy and forget about all that upsetting troubles temporarily.

Some people believe that people should accept education as early as possible and children are supposed to attend school the moment they’ve got enough ability to get focused and to learn something. While others hold that as childhood is regarded widely the most valuable and cherished time, it should be spent playing and running all around, instead of being buried in piles of books. I agree to the statement that it’s OK for children to play games and have fun during their early ages because the desire to play is children’s instinct, and it’s too cruel of adults to compel them to study all the time. In people’s youth, there are enormous abilities waiting to be developed, which definitely can not achieve in school. Still, being forced to go to school at such an early age may do more than harm to children.
We all know that past time never comes back, so does our childhood, which is supposed to be the most cherished and memorable period of one’s whole life. Fortunately, most people have had a happy childhood and a smile always appears to rest on one’s lips whenever it comes to the word “childhood”. So, how can people deprive their children’s rights of playing with so much cruelty.
Being constrained to learn in the classroom may bring children more knowledge, however, they surely will lose the opportunities to develop other abilities and skills like an outgoing mind and talent for sports in the meantime, which is apparently of greater importance.
Lastly, attending school at such an early age virtually does lots of harm to children. For example, they are more likely to become shortsighted because of this, for their eyes are still not strong enough to bear so much pressure of staring at one place for some long time. This may also develop children’s weariness of learning, and that’s absolutely unwanted by most parents.
