In the reading passage, the writer assumes that genetically modified tree species provide farmers with guarantied（guarantee) if the trees are planted in a large scope. To prove his statement, the writer provides three possible benefits. However, the lecturer refutes the writer’s opinion by pointing out three causes and problems of this kind of trees.

One of the benefits stated by the passage is that considering that these trees are more resistant to the natural environment, they will be more likely to survive than natural trees. However, the speaker don’t (doesn't) admit this benefit because she thinks the diversity of natural trees enables at least one specie to survive regardless of the climate and other conditions. By contrast, as genetic trees are designed to be uniformed, they will all die if the climate changes.4 u& x. d) }# W2 X" U

To support its opinion, moreover, the passage provides another argument that modified trees allow the farmers to gain profit in a shorter run because , compared with natural trees
, the modified trees will grow faster and produce higher yields. But the lecturer casts doubt on this argument because modified trees may be more costly considering the hidden costs. For example, the farmers need to purchase seeds from the company that products genetically modified trees. Also as the authorization of the seeds are prevented by law, the farmers also need to pay the producer every time they need to plant trees. In other words, unlike those of natural trees, seeds of modified trees cannot be collected free of charge.# K+ w7 m! R- [0 O

According to the reading passage, the third benefit of the new species is that it will reduce the numbers of wild trees cut by people in purpose of obtaining wood, thus helping eliminate damages to wild trees caused by human activities. But the listening material opposes to this opinion. The listening part thinks that as modified trees tend to grow more aggressively and usually share the habitat with natural trees, they may outcompete natural trees for resources resulting in larger damages.

In a word, the passage and lecture hold adverse opinions on the influences made by planting trees whose genes are modified.

Even an high school graduate,who has bookkept his money since he was young, may not have better skills in property management than a college student who manage his money only after taking finance courses.2 ^! f" ]" h4 M2 ~9 n" XTo conclude, I disagree with the statement that in purpose to be an adult capable of financial management, a child should begin to control his/her own money when he/she is young. Admittedly, the so-called generation gap does exist between grandparents and their grandchildren, however, the suggestions given by grandparents cannot be completely negated because some advices are virtues that should be followed perpetually. Three examples are provided in the following paragraphs.

Firstly, to follow the regulations and laws is one of the virtues applied both today and in the past. Although some changes occurred during the 50 years, citizens today still have the obligation to obey the Constitution and other regulations to maintain the normal operation of the society. Anyone who violates the law will be punished. For example, shoplifting was prohibited half a century ago. Grandparents learn this rule from their previous experiences and they will tutor their offspring not to steal things in stores because it is against the law. This suggestion is still useful today.

Another suggestion grandchildren need to listen to is to love their family members and support each other. Although nowadays, children become more independent, there is still no denying that interactions with family members are essential and people cannot survive without a family. Take me as an example. With differences in personal preferences, my cousins and I live in different cities. We seldom get together. But the distance between us cannot fully separate us and we all agree that family members are the ultimate support and people you can always count on.

In addition, to be responsible, which was regarded as an important code of ethics centuries ago, is still valued in modern society. For example, to be responsible for the society, people should make contributions to their community as they all benefit from it. This is a commonsense and will never be out of date. And this is proved by surveys conducted by the U.S.A Today. In both 2010 and 1950, the newspaper asked its readers to name 5 most important characters of a friend. And surprisingly, the results are quite identical and responsibility is on both lists.

Therefore, people cannot fully deny the usefulness of suggestions given by grandparents who experience a different living condition because some commonsense appear to be useful all the time and will not be phrased out as time goes by.
