2011 MFE Programs Rankings Methodology:
Employer Survey Score (25%)
From August to early September 2011, Quantnet surveyed hiring managers and corporate recruiters representing a wide range of quantitative groups across financial institutions in US, UK and Asia to indentify which of the 22 programs in the 2011 ranking whose graduates they have interviewed or hired from within the last three years.
Placement Success (50%)
Starting Salary (20%) The average starting salaries of the most recent graduated cohort were normalized by mean and standard deviation and separated into quintiles, with each quantile being awarded points from 20 to 100 in increments of 20 points.
Employment Rate at Graduation (10%) The employment rates were separated into five different groups, each group being awarded points from 20 to 100 in increments of 20.
Employment Rate Three Months after Graduation (15%) The employment rates were separated into five different groups, each group being awarded points from 20 to 100 in increments of 20.
Students/Administrator Ratio (5%) The Class Size was divided by the number of administrators supporting the students; the ratios were normalized by mean and standard deviation and separated into quintiles, with each quantile being awarded points from 20 to 100 in increments of 20.
Student selectivity (25%)
GRE Scores (10%) The average GRE Quant scores of the admitted students were separated into five different groups, each group being awarded points from 20 to 100 in increments of 20.
Undergraduate GPA (5%) The average GPAs of the admitted students were separated into five different groups, each group being awarded points from 20 to 100 in increments of 20.
Acceptance Rate (10%) The scores were separated into five different groups, each group being awarded points from 20 to 100 in increments of 20.
Overall score/rank
A score for each program is accumulated from the points in each category multiplied by the category’s assigned weighted average. |
