The development of society has to some extent led to view of materialism. Wealth becomes an important factor to be taken into account in every aspect of our life. Some people even consider wealth difference could be a barrier for the friendship because the richer ones would regard themselves somehow better than the poor ones. Thus, inequality is created and destroyed the basic principle of being friends. However, this is only part of the picture. Personally speaking, I hold the view that disparity in wealth can not hinder friendship among people. First, we come to discuss what constitute the friendship.


A true friendship is built with common value and interests as well as mutual understanding and help between two persons. In order to become friends, they should share similar opinions and always be willing to help each other. And these elements have little connection with the wealth difference between friends. There exist some situations that the rich and the poor are less likely to make friends with each other. Some people may attribute such phenomenon to the disparity in wealth. But through analyzing the phenomenon, we can easily discover that these people are actually different in values and interests rather than wealth. Due to the different financial situations, they grow up or live in different environment and thus have totally different experience, which contributes to the evolvement of personal value and interests. These differences in experience and value make them hard to share common topics and feelings, not to say to become friends.

However, disparities in wealth can be ignored since an appropriate help enables the two persons to become friends. The two friends should have mutual understanding and provide help if any one needs. Just imagine the poorer friend had confronted a financial dilemma and is in need of money. In this case, the richer can lend money for his friend in order to assist him to solve problems. It is because the understanding and trust between friends that the richer immediately provide help without hesitation. Also, their friendship is strengthened. Friend is the one who understands you most and never hesitates to help you, which would not be altered by difference in wealth.

In conclusion, I don’t think that two persons can not become friends because of their wealth differences. It is the common value and mutual understanding that accounts for the establishment of friendship rather than the wealth disparity.

The fast development of technology enables people to do what they have never imagined before. Despite（为啥在这用一个让步的语气词呢 不太懂。。） the great convenience brought to people’s life, solutions of many social problems have been found for these advancements have pushed the social progress. At the same time, people began to consider whether fast development of science and society can help them to solve the most significant problems within their lifetime. As far as I am concerned, it’s impossible to solve all these problems within such a relatively short period.

To begin with, many problems affecting the society are too complicated and internally connected with problems in many fields. In this case, to solve problems like this is a long process which needs to find solutions for the relevant problems together. The technology and social development could only act as a catalyst which to some extent accelerate the process, but are unable to fundamentally shorten the long process. Regarding the sophisticated nature of problems affecting our society, I don’t consider they can be completely solved within our lifetime. Take the problem of large gaps between the rich and the poor. Development of technology has promoted economic boom and also extend the gap which is mainly due to imperfection of the social system. And the reform of the social system needs continual effort paid by generation after generation. In this case, it’s too short a period to eliminate the gap in one generation. Also, the reform would affect people’s life from every aspect. People need a relative long period to prepare for and adapt to the changes brought by reform and then to take some measures to help to push the reform.

Secondly, the development of society and technology continually change and produce new problems which are significantly affecting people’s life. Having solved the old problems, other new problems may occur. The invention of plastic had brought great changes to the society. It led the industry into a new era and various kinds of goods made of this new material had been produced. It helped to solve many problems in the process of industry development but now raises the problem of environmental pollution. （我觉得这里再加一点这个pollution 是如何难解决。比如 it may take hundreds even thousands of years for a plastic to dissolve）It is impractical to solve all of the most important problems for their continual change and occurrence.

In conclusion, considering the characteristics of these problems, we should recognize that only some of the solutions can be found within the lifetime for the most important problems, which need a long process of development to solve.

Because of differences in characteristics, people may treat others in different ways. Some people keep smiling to others and politely behave no matter what situation they confront. Others may lose temper on or annoyed by the impolite persons. However, whether we should keep polite to others has raised a hot discussion in the society. As far as I am concerned, I support that always keeping polite to others is a kind of virtue we should possess.

First thing I want to point out is that politeness is one of the most significant virtues for our Chinese. We are taught to how to behave politely from childhood. Politeness enables people to win respect from others and contributes to the harmony of communities we are living in. The traditional Confucianism in China teaches people to be lenient to others and even to the bad people. After catching a thief on the street, we should send him to the police but not treat him rudely by ourselves. It is the legislation department that has the right to punish the thief but not us. Thus, keeping polite is a kind of social principle we need to conform for the purpose of being civilized citizens of the society.

Furthermore, always maintaining polite to others can earn oneself with good relationship with others. When we first meet the customers, polite behaviors like shaking hands with a bow can make them feel to be respected and valued. Thus, politeness is beneficial to the establishment and consolidation of a business relationship. Such as a human nature, people would feel more comfortable when talking with a polite person.

Finally, being impolite to other people do no good to both the event itself and the persons engaged in. Impolite behaviors or words may intensify the conflicts and also make ourselves feel angry and depressed. Besides, angry is also harmful to our health.

Thus, as an important virtue in Chinese traditional culture, politeness enables people to win respect and maintain good relationship with others while impoliteness may be harmful to the events and one’s health.

As we all know, people are learning from and growing up in the mistakes. During this process, they are taught to avoid making same errors as well as to correct them. And this serves as an important part in children education. Someone argues that parents should stand aside their children and immediately prevent the mistakes. They consider it as an effective way to protect children from negative effects of the mistakes. However, others insist that to allow children to make and then learn from their own mistakes can effectively prevent reappearance of same errors. Personally speaking, I grant support for the later opinion and hold that the nature of the mistakes should be taken into consideration.

Admittedly, there is necessity for parents to prevent children from some mistakes that may cause significantly negative effects on children’s future life. For example, it is harmful to children’s health and study if they were allowed to indulge in computer games. Lacking of proper guidance from parents, children are unable to recognize the mistakes and afterwards it may take them tens of time and effort to catch up with the classmates. In this case, blindly learning from mistakes could be a kind of overindulgence, which does no good for a child’s growth. Thus, to provide proper guidance and to prevent them from significant mistakes is necessary and beneficial to the children’s development.

To begin with, most of the mistakes merely affect children’s performance in certain small events like making a handicraft or building a toy castle. Letting them to find out and learn from the mistakes can enhance their abilities in dealing with problems. Just imagine that when seeing the toy castle collapsed, children would feel depressed and become eager to know what’s wrong with it. They would try to think of the building process and ask their parents for help. During this process, they learn the physical principles of construction and then are capable of finding solutions to rebuild the toy castle. However, if children were protected from mistakes, they can not have true understanding of the construction principles and next time when parents don’t stay around, they would not be able to build another toy building. In order to cultivate children’s abilities in solving problems, parents should allow them to learn and find solutions from mistakes.

Furthermore, to encourage children learn from mistakes helps to develop their independent ability. Accustomed to parents’ protection, children would easily run into mistakes when they have to complete the tasks independently and have no idea of how to correct them. However, children who have been trained to reflect and learn from mistakes by themselves know how to find out causes and solutions of the mistake as well as to avoid its reoccurrence. Also, it helps children to form a right point of view that they should not rely on parents or others to solve problems for them.

In conclusion, necessary guidance should be provided to help children to avoid significant mistakes while parents should let children learn from mistakes and develop abilities to correct them.

Thereappears that people are paying increasing attention to influences brought by televisionon children education. It’s undeniable that television helps children to learnfrom entertainment as well as to get new knowledge from different areas.However, spending excessive time on television would occupy the study time anddoes no good to their performance. Personally speaking, I consider that properrestrictions on children’s TV hours are necessary and beneficial for them.

Tobegin with, appropriate limitations on TV hours ensure children’s study time aswell as improve their study performance. Actually, few children can resist theattraction of television. Attracted by the vivid animation and plots, childrenmay spend their whole day sitting in front of the television and forget doingtheir homework. They may sacrifice the time that originally be used for reviewand finish their homework hastily. In this case, parents’ supervision becomesnecessary. Only through limitations can the study time and homework quality beensured. During this process, children learn that instead of getting indulgedin television, they should spend more time on homework, completion quality ofwhich is part of their performance.

Furthermore,limitations on television help children to learn how to allocate their time. Iturges children to take use of their time efficiently. For most children, theyare not mature enough to evaluate the importance of different issues and wouldeasily waste their time in watching television. Excessive hours being front ofthe television not only do harm to their eyes but also isolate them from theoutside world. Instead, spending their time on other activities such as runningand outdoor exercises is a more effective kind of relaxation. It strengthenstheir body, increases communication with others as well as improves theirlearning efficiency after few hours rest. Both good physical conditions andinterpersonal skills are essential qualities of a well-behaved child at school.In this case, to limit children on watching TV makes them to allocate the timein other meaningful things, benefits of which are bigger and obvious.

Inconclusion, to limit the hour children spend on television is beneficial totheir study as well as teaches them to appropriately allocate their time.

It guarantees children’s rights to receive education and avoid beingilliterate. But in the past, only children born in rich families had chances toattend school while the poor were forced to do labor work for living. Great advancements in modern science and technology do bring enormous influences to our daily lives. The inventions of intellect cell phone like iPhone and internet enable the communication and information obtaining available anytime and anywhere. The increasing level of medicine has improved people’s body conditions as well as increases the lifespan of the society. Science and technology have penetrated in every aspect of people’s lives and continually raising their living standards. Then there comes some arguments that the most significant improvement has been made in the past few decades. Is this the truth or common opinion of the public? First let us come to define what standards constitute judgment on living quality.

When talking about the living quality, a good living environment would certainly be put in the first place. Fresh air and clean drinking water, for example, contribute to people’s physical health and allow them to enjoy the beauty of nature without worries about threatens from toxic pollutants. However, the reality of current society is that news and protests about environmental problems have never stopped. We often hear the news reporting people are suffering from the toxic pollutants like smelly gasses or sewage produced by the nearby factories and the unreasonable die out of plants or fishes. Even in the downtown, few people would not complaint about the flagrant gas emitted from the cars or dusts and noises from the nearby construction sites. People’s lives are inevitably disturbed by pollutions around them. From this perspective, how can we say that the most significant improvement of living quality has been made when the most basic element, a clear environment, can not be guaranteed? Science and technologies progresses are in great need in order to economically isolate dusts and noises of the construction sites as well as find out environmental friendly techniques for cars and manufacturing operations.

Furthermore, despite the physical health, senses of satisfaction and happiness also play an important part in the judgment of living standard. First, educational level of the society is closely related to such feelings. A well-educated citizen is more likely to conform to social norms and rules as well as to strive hard for their work, which contributes to the harmony and economic development of the whole society. Thus, overall satisfaction and happiness are created. But in many developing countries, people living in the remote area or the poor may not be able to share as excellent educational sources as the rich and those in the towns do. Then, unfairness of education opportunities and widening gaps of income occur, which lead to feelings of dissatisfaction. Also, distances have isolated them from enjoying the culture feasts like musical plays or art exhibitions held in the museums and theatres. Technological improvement is still needed in order to ensure people would not be deprived of opportunities for education and cultural life by objective environment conditions like distances.

In conclusion, when considering the two most essential elements in judging the living standard, the living environment and sense of satisfaction and happiness, we would easily find that there are still many problems waiting to be tackled through science and technology development and the most significant improvement in people’s life has not yet taken place.

The fast development of public media has enabled people to keep updated with what is happening around. Hundreds of pieces of information have spread into every aspect of our lives. We, as part of the modern society, are inevitably immerged in the information ocean. Thus, there comes some skepticism about the meaningfulness and importance of obtaining such large amount of information, most of which are irrelevant to our personal lives.

Admittedly, sometimes it is disturbing and confused when piles of information occupying the whole screen of the television or mobile phone. Even some fussy issues can arouse heated public discussion and cover those more valuable ones, which seem dull and relatively unattractive. In this case, we may unconsciously get lost in the information ocean and are incapable of absorbing the most useful information in time, which are closely related to our daily lives. However, the searching engine helps to solve this problem. From this perspective, obtaining information about what is going on around does not hinder our assimilation of the more important ones and thus worries about information inefficiency are eliminated. Then we begin talking about the advantages.

Firstly, most events seems irrelevant are actually affecting the society we are living in and thus our personal lives indirectly. In most people’s eyes, for example, the European crisis bears little connection with our daily lives since it barely had effect on the ups and downs of the CPI. It seems to be the issues of economists but not the general public. However, the truth is that influences of the European crisis do quietly penetrate into our lives. Furthermore, knowing about what is going on helps to expand our horizons as well as to increase knowledge in different fields. From news reporting the recent scientific discoveries, we get to know how intelligent the new robot can be and what new functions the updated cell phones possess. Also, the recent boom in the stamp market may raise your interests in stamps investment. In order to earn profits from the stamp investment, you may endeavor to learn more knowledge about stamps including the culture hidden behind and verification methods of them. Therefore, we benefits from the news happening around through knowledge improvement and horizon expansion.

Besides, getting familiar with the newly information around plays an important part in social communication. People often consider that public media has connected people together.
