Is it more important to create an appealing image than to realize the truth behind that image? The speaker claims so. When this problem comes to me, I hold the opinion that it goes too far to apply this standpoint to every activities related to image and truth, and we should reexamine it more comprehensively.

Appealing images used for beneficial ends, to some extent, facilitate understanding and grasping the reality or truth behind the images. I would like to take the modern film as my illumination. With the development of technology of camera and photograph, modern films present us more and more grandiose and brilliant scene. With the participation of computer and some others high technology, this tendency makes a further advance again. While producing such appealing images in historical or artistic film , which let the audience seems to be personally on the scene, the reality or truth behind these images such as the true emotion, living status and events, are not masked at all, on the contrary, they are expressed exclusively and vividly before the audience, who are encouraged to find truth and experience truth. In this sense, our ultimate aim, and also motivation, is revealing the reality or truth, so which is more primary or important. Creating an appealing image is nothing more than creating a expressive form for prompting this aim.

Additionally, the appealing images used for evil is masking the reality or truth, it is self-evident that revealing the truth is more important than the superficial images. Ironically, true indeed, under some circumstances, an appealing image comes to be more attractive and persuasive than revealing the truth behind it directly. Consider, for instance, the commercial advertisement, which mainly aims at providing the lookers with a nice and comfortable scene to assure that their production is effective and worthy its value. Presenting before us are only their function and convenience, with no respect to their probable negative influence such as the radiation of mobile phone, which improve the performance at the expanse of increasing the intensity of radiation, and some deficiencies.

Another example in point comes to competing for the selection in politics. From time to time, competitor are more inclined to present a kind face, gentle gesture and deportment, and the most important, the world in which democracy policy is absolutely enacted, sexual and ethnic discrimination is greatly diminished and even cleared, everyone equally live a wealthy and comfortable life, violence disappears, and the like. Obviously, such appealing image is just the means by which the competitor wins as many as possible supporters, and is greatly in favor of her/his stepping onto the leader position as they have expected. However, standing in different perspectives, we can hold completely comment on this phenomenon. As the mass, they want the competitors to express their real emotions, appearance, and the practical blue print, which embodies the real society he prepares to make. As the competitors, presenting various appealing and attractive images undoubtedly becomes to be the choice for them.

In conclusion, whether we should create some appealing images and whether we should lay a reliance on them, and also how to deal with a wide variety of appealing images, all are the questions we should contemplate considerately, acute and insightful eyes can help us filter the dreg in the appealing images.
