录取标准, 这个是他们的graduate program chair 和我说的: we admit you because we believe that you will successfully complete our curriculum and write an excellent PhD thesis.
On behalf of the Applied Math Department at the University of Washington, I am pleased to let you know that we are offering you admission as a MS student. An offer letter specifying the details is attached. You will receive a signed copy of this letter by regular mail.
Also, I want to point out the existence of our on-line MS program. That program is completely equivalent to our on-campus MS program: same courses, same instructors, same homework problems and same exams. The transcript does not mention the degree was taken online. In fact, since you have the option of taking identical courses to your on-campus counterparts, the degree should not say online! Students watch (live or delayed) video feed instead of attending lecture. Admittedly it is a bit harder to interact with instructors, but you do have the benefit of pausing and rewinding. Also, it is possible to transfer from the online program into the PhD program as well; one of the total 3 students who did this was admitted.
