请教TPO27 听力conversation 1的一道题目

TPO27的第一个对话，做了很多次，总是无法理解同一处的语气意思，所以请教解答。

听力原文:
Librarian: Ok. Mount Ruapehu. Let's see. So are you a geology major?

Student: Hem. Hardly.

Librarian: Let me guess, you have to take a science course and you don't want to have to deal with biology, chemistry or physics.

Student: Exactly. But it's actually turned out to be a pretty interesting class.

对这一段给出的问题是:
What can be inferred about the geology course the woman is taking?
- It has led the woman to choose geology as her major course of study
- It is difficult to follow without a background in chemistry and physics
- The woman thinks it is easier than other science courses
- The woman thinks the course is boring

答案是C。虽然女生说这课变得interesting了，但是感觉C选项说比其他科学课要easier的对比没道理啊。

还有一个问题是，那个Hardly是什么意思？


我以前看过论坛里有人问过这个hardly，但是没有人给出信服的解释啊。所以求解答！！！

学校要求（非science major 的学生）必须修一个science类课程→女生选了geology因为don't want to have to deal with biology, chemistry or physics →学了以后发现这个课还蛮有意思的

hardly：虽然我来找geology的东西，但是我“不算是”geology major，只是要搞这一门课而已啦

只能选c，女生的态度色彩偏向觉得这个课还蛮好的。而且她don't want to have to deal with biology, chemistry or physics，八成是因为别的太难不想选。别的选项没有说得通的

对，我觉得这段听力关键是要理解管理员抖这个包袱，其implication是他从女生的态度猜出女生不是这个专业而是因学校requirement需要而选了地理课
