我的学校统计项目之前被NRC排美国8-15档次。我的教授负责Ph.D. 招生,她说她会考虑优秀的Columbia MS学生。
不过话说回来,读Columbia 统计的估计大多不是为了Ph.D.吧,应该都是想留在纽约找工作,所以找工作这个东西,就算是读MFE也不一定能找到,主要看自身吧... 反正我的教授说如果我最后选择了Columbia,将是一个wise decision。

and indeed......the professionals in the related industry knows which program are good / bad, and even they don't, they will know it through a technical interview with you.
in actuarial science, the paper you passed is the key factor......and a master is not really necessary indeed.....
