Why Education?!Although I have been in America

I am in UTK, TN. Applied educational psychology department. I came here last August. I was a gter too, I have to say something to all friends who want to come to here.
Education is a poor department, and field, if you can be accepted and give you money until your graduation, you are so lucky. Basiclly, they just give you one year assistantship, just like UT. after ranking 50, maybe they don't have money at all.
I have to say, studying in America is great!!! You will have wonderful experience. It's worthy no matter how difficult is. My life is changed, and much better. Although I don't have assistantship for next year. I have to transfer to psychology department. since my advisor told me the information too late, I probably have to pay tuition for a year, and transfer to psychology next year. But I think it's worthy, although it's very expensive for us. After I transfer to applied industrial psychology, they will give me assistantship until graduation, and I can find a better job than human learning program.

So, think about it, and I know too many people apply education every year, I was lucky to be accepted. but how many people have good luck?Good luck to me, and to everyone.

En,thanks for your suggestion,especially from the view of a successful educational applicants.

We all thought education is comparatively easy to get offer and easy to get financial aids,but maybe we have made mistakes.
Then what is the truth? If education is hard to apply, which is easier?How to choose a suitable major to apply?
I know all these questions are hard to answer,but we are always confused by them

I have to say that smile666 is right. However, is there a choice we can choose? No.
You know, We chose education because most of us are or used to be a teacher. No one can deny work experience is perferred. what we can do? choosing Chemistry?
YOu know, most people who are working in a company now have no time and energy to prepare those materials and tests.So they give up.
So probably, only teachers left in this battle.This is why you see so many people choose SOE to aspply to.

终于可以打中文了, 上午在学校打不了. 来美国以后就很少上GTER了, 最近想要转系才上来看看. 感觉教育的人气很旺. 比PSYCHOLOGY的人多太多了.
我的PROGRAM IS HUMAN LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENT, BUT THEY PUT AN ATTRACTIVE NAME ON IT, APPLIED EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY. 其实教育心理学, 比较实用的是COUNSELLING, 尽管如此, 在UT, 也只给2年的钱, 可见之穷的FEILD.
相比之下, PSYCHOLOGY就好很多了, 毕业之后的形式和待遇也比较好, 他们非常看中GRE, 但不是TOEFL, 而EDUCATION 在UT, 竟然不要GRE成绩, 我是来了以后才知道, 不过也没有白考. 现在转专业很重要, 但是PSYCHOLOGY 要求SUB, 对大家来说可能有困难, 其实SUB 一点不重要, 在UT, 可以先被录取, 在考, 而且大部分学校不要, 在PSYCHOLOGY只要有ADMISSION , 就有ASSISTANTSHIP. 这点很重要, UT虽然排名不错, 但是很穷, 连他的PSYCHOLOGY都这样, 其他牛校可见一斑

我个人感觉是：虽然只是教育方面的工作经验，但是不要把申请专业局限在教育上，可以挖掘其他边缘学科，就向smile说的那样。我们要想清楚工作经验中我们获得哪些方面的能力，而这些能力是我们想申请的专业所需要的素质，把这些在ps和cv里表现出来才有说服力。
