honestly I dont think it is approiate to compare them in sense of 待遇和出路...........
given that a master is required for admission of PhD in Switzerland, the applicant are supposed to have some solid idea about the field that one have the research interest, just like a PhD student after the QE.
my short answer will be: this is not a question of concern, just select the one that one is interested in.
P.S.
Normally, econometrics are considered as one of the subfield / concentration under a economics PhD, so that a PhD student in econ are select it at some time point. But given that it is a seperated program existing.....I doubt if the econ PhD student can select econometrics as the research directly without any adminstrative trouble.
the program is in English, therefore one only need English academically.
but you have to be used to (i.e. survive) a French environment even you don't speak French (i.e. in daily life like post office, supermarket and quite some administrative stuffs). This is troublesome but possible.
This is not only for Uni of Geneva, but also most English-teaching program in European continental.
If you already feel 略抓狂 since 有些页面没有英语, this is a very clear signal that you are not mature / tough enough to handle this. Go to an English speaking country then.

I am not feeling mad if there is not English version for application. I just want to make sure about that. If for daily life, definitely not knowing French would be troublesome. But I believe every body who makes decision to study there could handle this small problem. I have many friends who are studying at French speaking countries now, they know noting about French before, but they live very well there.
Not having an English version seems this program is lack of diversity and inclusiveness. And I am surprised that a Ph.D. student there could leave a such impolite message here.
