Because of television and worldwide computer connections, people can now become familiar with a great many places that they have never visited. As a result, tourism will soon become obsolete.
------正文------
According to the statement, the television and worldwide computer connections have provided people with unprecedented opportunities and convenience to learn great places. Thus the tourism will soon be obsolete. As far as I am concerned, I concede television and computer network is greatly helpful for people learning outside worlds. However, the tourism will actually benefit rather than obsolete as a result. The detailed discussion is as below.

First of all, with the fast advancement in television and computer network, people have more chance to learn famous places around the world. The television and computer could provide people with numerous lively and vivid recordings of those places. Take, the National Geographic Documentation as an example. This program focuses on various geographic features all over the world, from the highest mountain on earth to the deepest place in Pacific Ocean, which gives people excellent chance to learn those places. Moreover, because of the limitation of money and time, it would be impossible for most people to travel to many places. In this sense, the television and computer networks give us wonderful chances to "realize" our dreams. People could see the Egypt Pyramid, the Great Wall or even animals living in South Pole without stepping out of their doors.

Despite of these great convenience and opportunities modern technology has brought to us, traveling has incomparable advantages over passive watching. Watching is one thing, while experiencing is another. Traveling is not primarily gathering information, instead it is about sensory experience--seeing and hearing firsthand, even touching and smelling. Moreover, traveling is a manifestation of human need for variety and exploration. Besides, traveling could release people from hectic modern life, a excellent chance to relax or even refresh yourselves both physically and mentally. For instance, after a tiring but pleasant climbing, breathing fresh air, you stand on the top of Tai Mountain, the most famous mountain in China, waiting for the sunrise. What a wonderful feeling it will be as you see the sun coming from the furthest horizontal line. Or you are lying on the sunny beach of Mediterranean, enjoying the wonderful sunshine and having fun in surfing. Those are feelings and experience that can never be gained from watching television or computer recordings.

Last but not least, the advancement of television and computer would not lead to a decline to the development of tourism; on the contrary, they would promote tourism ultimately. On the one hand, what people watch and hear from the television and computer materials would actually impulse their interests for exploring the places that they may seldom heard of before, which is a compulsive force for the prosperity of tourism. On the other, empirical experience tells us that, the tourism is actually growing rapidly nowadays. China would be a good case to this point. The number of people visiting China as well as that of Chinese people traveling abroad is increasing exponentially.

To sum up, from the facts and reasons mentioned above, the television and worldwide computer connections, which may provide people more chance to see the outside world conveniently, they would not detriment to the development of tourism, let alone obsolete tourism. Rather, the tourism would in fact benefit from the advancement of television and computer networks.
