Issue51:
Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to meet the individual needs and interests of each student.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The controversy over the special education and general education has continued for centuries. The viewpoint to educate according to the needs of individuals becomes more and more popular recently. But is it really a wise choice to do so? I'm afraid it may not be as effective as the author thinks to design the education specially to meet the personal needs and interests of each student.
First, it is the generalization where the efficiency of education stands. This is a world abundant with complicated phenomena. It is important for us to handle varieties of knowledge to solve kinds of problems. One who only have a narrow ken and capability, no matter how well he or she can do in that field, will never make any true success. The education should help us to acquire the basic skills such as reading, writing, calculating and so forth for living or we may find wonder and wander facing the complex modern society. If we specialize the education according to the individuals, the students may grow to a narrow person in the future so that bring a lot of problem to them and to the world.
The second problem is that the needs of one individual may not always accord to the interest of the same person. Sometimes they are even conflict. Take the ability of calculating for example. There are so many situations under which we need to calculate that without the capability of calculating we may find it difficult to travel a single step. However, it is common that some students have no interest in or even hate mathematics. Thus it is impossible to meet the needs and interests both. It is really a embarrassing choice to give up one of them. Nevertheless, if we design the education according to the general needs, there won’t be such problem.
What’s worse, not all the students know about themselves well so that they probably have no idea about their own needs and interests. Therefore, given that we really provide a chance to them to choose what they want to learn, they may feel confused. We can frequently to hear the senior students in universities complain about the wrong choice made by themselves to learn what they are learning, which indicates that even senior high school graduators do not understand themselves well. Then how can we ensure that the educations we design will really meet the needs and interests of the individuals even if it appears so. Once the students find they have made a bad choice it may not easy for them to change their fields if the education is over-specified. It would be a real tragedy.
Of course, general education doesn’t mean that we teach everybody in the absolutely same way with the completely same contents. In order to cater to the individual needs and to stimulate the interests of the students, schools can offer some special courses for students. The combination of general and special teaching may arrive at a better consequence.
Over-specified education may not be so effective or practical as is appears. No one can lead a wonderful life only depend on one special skill in the developing world. Specified courses should be a complement rather than a substitute of the general education.

First, it is the generalization where the efficiency of education stands. This is a world abundant with complicated phenomena. It is important for us to handle varieties of knowledge to solve kinds of problems. One who only have a narrow ken and capability, no matter how well he or she can do in that field, will never太绝对了,建议用hardly can make any true success. The 加个定语, normaleducation should help us to acquire the basic skills such as reading, writing, calculating and so forth for living or we may find wonder and wander facing the complex modern society. If we specialize the education according to the individuals, the students may grow to a narrow person in the future so that bring a lot of problems to them 没必要如此拉长句子and to the world.
The second problem is that the needs of one individual may not always according to the interest of the same person.
