In this argument,the speaker rull out a conclusion that the amount of electricity used by the copper-extraction industry will decline significantly.In order to support this conclusion,the speaker point out two grounds.First of all,the old way to extract pure copper from ore is a process which will definitely require large amount of electricity.Secondly,the new copper-extracing technologies will use up 40 percent less electricity than the older method when process the same amount of raw ore,especially when the proportion of copper in the raw ore is high.It seems well-reasoned at first glace,but after thoroughly consideration,this argument suffers from several obvious fallacies.
To begin wigh,the premise of this arguement is insupportive lie in that the arguer ignores the popularity of the new method.Whether this new way will be extended all over the nation is unknown presently and the speaker failed to supply enough information of this.Besides,without the evidence that factories of plants would prefer to use this new methods won't the amount of cost of electricity be declined.
Admittedly,another prerequsition of this arugment couldn't be persuasiveness since the speaker merely put forward that the new copper-extracting technologies could use up 40 percent less electricity than the old ones.It failed to supply information that whether the amount of electricity when extracting the same capacity of pure copper by new method is less than the old ones or not.Likewise,even though the quantity of electricity by new method is less than the old one,will other cost be higher than the old one is still unknown to us,either.
Moreover,it is too arbitrary to claim that the cost of electricity will ultimately decrease since the speaker only said that the new method will save more electricity when he proportion of copper in the ore is high,nevertheless,what would happen if almost all the raw ores in this world are low in copper?Perhaps the quantity of electricity will be even higher.
To sum up,the conclusion lacks credibility,cause the evidence cited in the whole analysis failed to lead strong support to what the arguer maintains.To make it logically acceptable and strengthen the conclusion,the arguer would have to demonstrate other aspects of the cost of electricity when using the new method,and supply more compelling information,and carry out more investigations into market to make sure the popularity of this new method.
