I major in English too, not a famous university. My undergraduate grades are a liitle bettern than normal level. I am studying MPA now.
What I want to say is that the most important is your personal statement, of course your undergraduate grades affect your application. but you need to link your background such as activities you participated to the program you applied. in addition, my GRE verbal score is not high. I am studying at Baruch College, not famous for its MPA program, but MBA. I just finished the first semester.
In fact, we are always reconcile our own interest with the majors most needed in job market. I dont like this major that much. I am interested in design. but it is a very competitive area (graphic design), so English majors have to choose something that is not hard to learn and easier to find a job. I dont wanna be jobless after graduation. ( one more point, I intend to live here after graduation, this might make a difference in the major you choose.)
welcome anyone who is interested in studying in new york:) dont have friends here.
glad to answer your questions whithin my ability.
