    据《读卖新闻》报道，日本著名作家村上春树的长篇小说《海边的卡夫卡》英译本《Kafk aon the Shore》日前被《纽约时报》评选为2005年十佳图书之一，这也是日本小说首度入选欧美顶级媒体的年度畅销书榜。

    《纽约时报》评选出的今年十佳图书中，小说类与非小说类各占5部。该报书评栏盛赞《海边的卡夫卡》是一部“意境高远、充满梦幻般才智的小说”。其实，《Kafka on the Shore》今年1月正式发行之后，就在英语文学圈引来好评，海外媒体纷纷刊载书评，反响之热烈实为近年所少见。《纽约客》、《独立报》、《Spectator》、《纽约观察家》周刊等都对《海边的卡夫卡》赞赏有加，《华盛顿邮报》的书评甚至建议读者可以把这部小说念给自己的猫听。美国书界著名的《科克斯书评》(Kirkus Reviews)杂志更是语出惊人，大胆宣称《海边的卡夫卡》是一部与诺贝尔文学奖相匹配的杰作。

    自《奇鸟行状录》于1997年由佛大学教授Jay Rubin翻译成英语之后，村上春树便在英语文学圈中确立了自己著名作家的地位。入选“十佳”的另外9本书是小说类的《关于美》、《预科生》、《星期六》、《韦罗妮卡》和非小说类的《杀手之门：美国的拉克政策》、《德·库宁：美国大师》、《遗失的画作》、《战后：1945年后的欧洲史》、《奇异思维之年》。
