Undoubtedly, pragmatic behavior usually guarantees practical accomplishments in many areas of life.However, the total negligence of the significance of the idealistic point of views, which is illustrated in the speaker’s claim, is a mistake because of the inevitable role the idealism plays in our everyday life.

Admittedly, the practical opinions indeed have the precedence over the idealistic ones in some fields, where it is the precondition to obtain the achievements. Those fields include the business world.Consider,that nowadays, when almost every company survives for the purpose of profit-orientation, the most important concern of them would be how to become more profitable while stand in the lines of the extant policies. In such conditions, businessmen take into account all the possibilities and methods to gain money, and of course, all the practical ones. David Ogilvy, the "God Father” of the advertising industry, would not had became so successful if he tried to create an "Advertising Wonderland" to cultivate people's interests for enjoy the advertisements as a form of art and taught them how the advertisements fulfill their dreams, other than researched what sizes of letters would attract more attention in a magazine, what kinds of words could make people remember the products, which was what he actually doing. Idealistic points of view have little impacts on the business world for the companies to gain profit.Time,which is regarded as the equivalent of money, would be wasted if the focus were drew to them.

Secondly, in political field, the practical points of view would be the requirement for a country or a society to advance significantly. Every great dominator's experience reveals the facts that to be a successful leader, and to lead a country to survive as well as to thrive, the foremost concern is to realize the most severe conflicts exist in the current time, and know how to overcome them or utilize them. The practical conflict is not an idealistic thing. When noticed the suffer of the starving people in the undeveloped countries, the war happened around the town, the commotion of the citizens who could not live on their jobs, we would realize the truth that the conflicts are, and could not be solved, by idealistic solutions. Maybe an appealing speech made by Churchill, which might concluded as the idealistic one, could arouse the enthusiasm of the patriotic people ,yet the victory of the war is brought by the practical bombs, bullets and blood. The solutions to radically solve the existing cultural or political problems only have one kind, the pragmatic ones.

However, some fields of our life need idealism, even more than the practical point of view. For instance, the literature and the fine arts. The literary works exhibit the underlying circumstances which exist among the people, and compress all the current severe conflicts together to reflect our society. The demonstration, which could always be seen in a fiction, that a person has all the misfortunes or has all the fortunes would be considered a view of idealism, due to the reality that no one would be so poor or lucky.However, this idealistic description has the effects on readers that it made them realize and become aware of the current situation of the society and concern the future trend of the nation. Likewise, the idealism in fine arts, like the works of some impressionists, for example Von Gogh, portrayed their potential feelings about the world, which have the sentimental and subtle impacts on humans to arose their passion or sadness or joy,etc.The idealistic works have the special influences that can not be surpassed by the practical point of view.

Actually, the pragmatic and idealistic point of view is not impossible to cohabit together. Some fields of study, like liguastics, require both of them to advance. To research the emotion and meaning described in the words need idealistic point of view, and for the construction of the grammar and the rule for using the words need the practical ones. It is the application to combine the two points of view wisely and cohesively can some of the fields advance significantly.

To sum up, though some fields need little idealism, we should not ignore the importance of it in other areas in our life. As human beings, it is the two kinds of understanding and perception make us sentimental and logical, that is , to make us complete, as human.
