从字面上翻译来看，那么译是没错的．（本人不清楚那是否是你自己译的．．）
ideology:思想意识，意识形态．．
换言之，这与个人对事情的世界观，人生观，价值观等有关．
小说也好，故事亦罢，都是他人的思想体系的某种程度上的集合．
每个人也都有他自己的对小说等的理解和想法．
本人认为这句话的意思旨在：用你自己个人的见解来看待你所遇见的东西．包括所谓的小说，故事等．个人意见，仅供参考

这是那篇讲一个作家的阅读吧
我觉得它的意思是说有些作家创作作品过于强调意识形态,也就是太注重政治方面的东西,比如说什么资本主义、共产主义之类的啊。一般来说ETS对这种观点是坚决反对的。因此这句话在那篇文章中是为了将这种风格和主人公形成对比。
顺便说一下，ETS（其实不光ETS，我也这么认为）认为判断一篇文章要用纯文学的标准，而不要牵涉意识形态进来。
