TOPIC: ISSUE51 - "Education will be truly effective only when it is specifically designed to
meet the individual needs and interests of each student."

0.定义

A. 有效的教育的定义的讨论：If we define the effective education as the one that makes student own competent enough to survive in the competitive society, the teachers should provide some practical career experience accordingly. If we define the effective education as the one which make students cooperate with fellows and communicate smoothly. The school should put
emphasis on the ability of group work.（from jinfeng）

B. 兴趣的定义：Interest, as is known to us, is the precursor of success, which can be defined as passion toward our favorite endeavor, the spirit which we will spare no efforts to achieve our goals. （from rabbit）

1.支持specifically designed education 有效

A. traditional teacher-centered education的弊端
     a. 普通教育存在问题，unjust , unsound and unreasonable。。。忽视学生个人需求，填鸭式教学，学生不易吸收，产生厌学心理

B. student-centered education的好处
     a. 满足个人兴趣和需求，可以学习愿意学的课程，兴趣是最好的老师（高尔基），激发想像力和创造力，使学生主动学习，开发潜力和才能
     b. 按学生能力安排学习进度
     c. 兴趣可以让学生在遇到困难的时候坚持下去，度过难关

例子：Thomas Edison，Copernicus，Beethoven，Einstein

2.不支持specifically designed education

A. student-centered education的弊端
     a. 一些学生有不良的要求或者兴趣，不能一一满足
     b. 一些只要求了解的课程没必要设置专门的计划，比如艺术生学自然科学，大课堂就可以
     c. 教育资源有限，不能满足每个人的兴趣和需求
     d. 影响教育效用的因素有很多
     e. 一些课程即使没兴趣也不能不学：moral education, humanities, mathematics。。。是以后走向社会必须的，社会需要全面的人才
