只申请了老公学校这一所，春季开学的时候才给了奖，来不及转身分，就只能延到秋季，可系主任说到时候要看competition，真的是心里一点底都没有。刚刚发信去问了，现在就不敢看信箱了。就掉在这一棵树上，没有奖的话也不会去读的，现在该怎么办呢？只和系主任匆匆忙忙得见过一次面。现在能去找他谈谈吗？或者找graduate advisor?是不是一般都要先预约呀？申请经济的jm， 有谁面谈过吗？直接去找行吗？谈又谈些什么呢？

偶觉得在这边的教授挺看重介绍的人,就是说你有没有认识经济系的学生呢,通过他们和教授先打个招呼,约时间见面,效果应该不错的.尽自己最大的努力去争取吧!

I suggest you should express your strong interest in academic work to the program director and your potential to be an excellent researcher.

I also applied for econ Phd and no offer yet.

not a good program.I haven't prepared much for this year's application.I just wanna enroll in school for the coming fall semester. It has been so depressed to stay at home, not only for me,but my husband.

好象是那个样子，具体怎么操作也不太清楚了。
主要是对这个program的决心不是那么足，3月份要回国一趟，论文答辩。感觉这个program还不如偶在国内的学位呢：（

I heard that before changing status from f2 to f1, you can't enroll in courses in the university except the recreational courses.

Though maybe the program is not strong enough, as long as you could get financial aid, you should strive for it. Because you could either transfer to other universities or use the money you earned to support other more promising but no money programs.

So, just try your best for it.

I am not really interested in economics Phd program, either.

For the lucky ones who got offers from the programs, I don't think many of them would like to devote to academic work. Some of them just want to experience the american life. It is too hard and need too much sacrifice. Let me count. Suppose the top 50 programs in US have 50 openings for Chinese students as most. Competitors come not only from China but also from those already have a US degree. So, only the very lucky ones can get into such programs. However, the job placement for foreign graduates in the after-30 programs are not so promising.

So I hope to get an offer badly, but don't count on sticking to the last. My undergraduate and graduate major is both finance. I wish if the economy bounces, I will back to my major finance. I hope I could afford a M.S. from a famous university and find a job.

Am I be too old at that time? I am already 25.
