今天终于写了第一篇，从上午写到下午。。。虽然真的写的很差，但我不怕丢人···希望大家尽管批评，我会勇敢的接受的。。。
题目是：so much is new and complex today that looking back for an understanding of the past provides little guidance for living in the present.
另外写的这个样子，8月底考是不是不太现实····可以从哪些方面改进下？

In this statement,the speaker argues that the past can provide no guidance for
present because the present is new and complex.While I agree that it is new and
complex today,the past do provide much guidance for people who are living now.

It is true that knowing only the past is not enough,for the reason that the world
is changing fast and varies a lot from what it was in the past.If we keep looking
at the past,we can not cope with today's comlex and new world.The way people look
at things and how they deal with problems are different.For instance,people tend
to think that women are not as capabal as man in the past,but now many people
have realized that today women are playing a vital role in the stage of many
aspects like social science,physical science and literature.Moreover,the way
people living is much different with before.While it is hard for people to travel
long distance for the lack of materials,information and trasportation,people
nowdays can travel easily and conveniently as they want.Therefore,people can not
just looking at things in the past.They need to fill themselves with new
information and new approaches in order to live freely in this society.

However,it is only a part of the problem.Looking back for an understanding of the
past is still important for they provide a guidance not only for individuals but
more importantly,for the whole society.

In this society,we sometimes are lost in the technolically burdened world and can
not define ourselves.Knowing the past,however,helps us find the group we are in
and make us not lonely anymore.We may feel proud if our nation has a long history
and a diverse culture;we may be proud if our ancestors are brave people and had
fought for our life today.We can not predict the future and are uncertain about
what is going to happen,but a knowledge and understanding of the past make us
feel safer and guidance our life better.

In the whole society level,the understanding of the past help us understand
today's world better.The rules and principles of how things move,and the
experiences of achievements and failures of the people in the past are both
worthwhile to learn and understand and a good command of these things can guide
us to deal with new problems aroused better and therefore move forward easily.For
instance,in the latest economical crisis,many economists are not constricted to
these crise,but look back to the Great Depression in 1930s.They are analyzing how
it moved and how was it fanally sovled by the Roosevelt Policy.Why they are doing
that is probably they hope to utilize the past experience to deal with the latest
problem.

In sum,I assume that in this complex and new society,knowing only the past
certainly can not work out the new problems,but a good understanding of the past
do provide us guidance for living in the present,both in the individual and
societal level.
