TOPIC: ISSUE154 - "Both parents and communities must be involved in the local schools. Education is too important to leave solely to a group of professional educators."


Education, as a systemic project concerning about the destiny of society and nation, should be placed much more emphasis on by all of our society as a whole, including parents and communities, rather than only by those professional educators.

Above all, parents are the first teachers and role models of their children who are in the process of pullulation and socialization. In children’s daily life, what their parents say and do will directly and increasingly instill in their mind, and play a vital part in their childhood and adolescence, and then usually decided what they will be in grown-up. It is difficult for us to imagine that children with dissentious and violence parents will become a well-rounded men and women with tolerance and compassion, let alone to harmoniously deal with their peers or partners. What is more, parents hold the ultimately legal authority to make all-inclusively decisions about their children’s education which range from choices of curriculum to management of learning pace and schedule, and even to imposing their own hobbies and ideals on children. Without special skills and sufficient communication to their children, these undue parental cares more often than not lead to deleterious effects to children’s development in both physiology and psychology. Therefore, it is only time parents can make for their children’s progress when they instill right morality and value system on the base of well understanding one other.

Secondly, communities play a significant role in children's education. Human beings, as a gregarious creature, will learn much more from communities than from formal education, especially in childhood. All children will inevitably enter into the society and look for their appreciate situation after finishing school, this would call for children rightly recognizing and understanding the society before leaving school. All these demands could not achieved only by schools until communities and parents involve in. If communities could not keep in touch with children and schools, it is likely possible that those graduates could not meet the societal demands. What is worse is that children with dissatisfaction or even anti-social emotions would badly make against the harmony and stability of society. Without incisive comprehension of society, and without correct guidance of communities and government, student strike, occurred in both west and east society in last century serves an apt illustration to this point. What about serious effects of campus upheaval is not only related to the societal turbulence but led to the economic depression. So, communities should actively take part in the procession of children education for the sake of its own benefits.

Admittedly, schools, as an important ingredient of formal education, have been playing a vital role not only in imparting knowledge and skills to the young but also in keeping up traditional culture and promoting social progress. The teachers and tutors, as the representative of professional educators, have the life-and-death function in the individual growing process of cultivating characters, instilling ideas and subjects. But it is insufficient for children with knowledge and professional skill on the books for making a better society. Every generation of young has been confusing with the same emergent and intractable problems as what's the final purpose of learning and education, and how to make the young get to their ideal and happy. In front of these crucial dilemma, is it possible that only their endeavors of professional educators, with strong responsibility and abundant teaching experiences, could be competent for all above historical burdens and figure out a fair vista of our future? The answer is certainly negative until both parents and communities involve in the process of schooling, for the reason that ideas about happy and value are more depending on being instilled by parents and communities rather than being instructed by teachers. On the balance, it is rational and practical that the whole society takes co-action on the education of children for the purpose of the better tomorrow.

In sum, without the participation of parents and communities, the education of children will lose its social foundation and practical purpose; without the endeavors of professional educators, the schooling will lack its formality and consistency. To make a better society, parents and communities, as well as professional educators should make mutual effects on the education of children.

总体来说很8错的。各段说理都挺好,但相对独立。可以加一些例子,另外再谈谈三者如何合作提高教育质量就更加完美了~~
